Three-day Workshop for senior officers on Draft Coastal Regulation Zone Notification, 2010 begins at Amity School of Natural Resources& Sustainable Development (ASNR&SD) on August 09, 2010
The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. A. Janardhana Rao, Managing Director, Port Association of India and Mr. K. Mohandas, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Shipping in the presence of Prof. B. K. P Sinha, Director, ASNR&SD.
The technical sessions on “Ecological Socio- Economic and Cultural Implications of Invasive Developmental Plans in the Coastal zone of India” by Dr. B.C Choudhury, Scientist- G, Wildlife institute of India, Dehradun, Coastal Legislation of India, “Practice Till Date and the proposed Reforms with Port Development in India: Economic, Social and Environmental upshot of Port Growth in India”, by Mr. Sudarshan Rodriguez, Mumbai, and “Problems an Opportunities for the fisheries Sector Resulting from Intensive Development of Ports in India”, by MR. L. Shankar, Deputy Commissioner (Fisheries), Ministry of Agriculture, New Delhi were conducted. A vivid summarizing interaction followed between the delegates and speakers.
Technical sessions on “Modernity v Tradition – Legislating for the social and Environmental Impacts” by Mr. Krishnendu Mukherjee, Barrister – England & Wales and Advocate – India, Goa, India , “Marine Pollution and Effects on Biota” by Dr. Chandralata Raghukumar, Scientist, National Institute of Oceanography, “Goa and Coastal Management in the Country”, by Dr. Tapas Paul, Sr. Environmental Specialist, “The World Band- India, New Delhi” also by Dr. A. Senthilvel, Additional Director ( Coastal Zone Management), Ministry of Environment and Forests, New Delhi are to be accommodated during the second day of the programme incorporating the interactive discussion.
During the third day technical sessions on “Climate Change Vulnerability in Coastal Zone and Shipping Regulations,” by Ms. Reneema Hazarika, Spatial Decisions, New Delhi, “Conservation of Biodiversity in Coastal Area of Gujrat and Development of Ports” by Dr. C. N Paney, IFS, Director, Gujarat Ecological Education and Research Foundation, Gandhinagar, “Indian Coastal Zone Management: A Manager’s Perspective” by Mr. Gyanesish Jena, Spatial Decisions, New Delhi and “Use of GIS in Framing Coastal Zone Management Plan” by Mr. Kuldeep Pareta, Spatial Decisions, New Delhi are scheduled.
