Amity University Haryana organises seminar on “Career Options: Guidance by Eminent Corporate Gurus”

Amity University Haryana at Gurgaon (Manesar) organized a seminar on “Career Options- Guidance by Eminent Corporate Gurus” on Saturday, July 17th 2010 at hotel CROWNE PLAZA, Gurgaon. The objective of the seminar was to provide a platform to share the experiences on career opportunities and need of key skils coupled with the expectations of the industry from budding professionals so as to equip students with latest career opportunities and emerging trends in education.

Dr Padmakali, Director, Amity Business School and Dean Academics, Amity University Haryana, extended a formal welcome to all participants and Dr R C Sharma , Professor & Advisor, Amity Business School shared the outline of the planned proceedings. Mr Aseem Chauhan , Chancellor , Amity University Rajasthan and Additional President, Amity Education Group, was present in the seminar, who emphasized on the importance of goal setting and contribution of Amity in nation building.

The Seminar was attended by a large number of high profile senior executives, students, and renowned academicians from different parts of NCR. Rajiv Semwal, Managing Director at BVI HR Practice Pvt. Ltd, Ranjan Ghosh, Head Corporate Planning Strategy and Technology Group – GAIL, Latha Gupta, HR for Group Operations, Royal Bank of Scotland, Poonam Barua, Founder Chairman, Forum for Women in Leaderhip (WILL Forum), Pankaj Gulati, Associate Director - Sales Training & Channel Development, MetLife India Insurance Co Ltd and Anil Goel, Director, Aricent had participated in panel discussion and expressed their views on the theme. Besides, the senior persons from the corporates, viz., Mitsubhishi, Ernst & Young Huawei, and Du-pont, etc, were also present in the seminar.

During the deliberations made by various experts, it was emphasized that the students must set their priorities and goals in life. While analyzing the various career options, it is important for them to have an analysis of their key strengths and weaknesses and align them with the market opportunities. The experts have also emphasized to look on the new job avenues which are coming-up due to emergence of new technologies and changing paradigm in business. Understanding of self, clarity of purpose, mastering key skils, making a SWOT, were some of the key tools, discussed by the experts.

After deliberations, the students were provided an opportunity to take psychometric test in their journey towards understanding self and taking appropriate measures. Simultaneously, services of trained counselors had also been provided to each student to clarify their individual doubts during the One-on-One Session.

The Seminar was closed with a vote of thanks by Prof (Dr) Vikas Madhukar, Dy Director, Amity Business School, Amity University Haryana.

The seminar turned out to be highly successful and a boon to the students.
