International Conference on Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Leadership commences at Amity

Amity University Uttar Pradesh in association with Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Govt. of India organize a three day International Conference on Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Leadership (ICEIL 2018) on the theme “Technology, Innovation, and Value Creation” which commenced today at University campus, Sector 125 Noida.

 

The objective of the conference is to provide a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs, academia, industry, Government and policy makers to come together and promote leadership, technopreneurship and management practices in SMEs.

 

Inaugurating the conference, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Union Minister of State for Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (Independent Charge), Government of India said that Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Leadership are the elements to bring forth the transformational change and development in the world. He shared that leadership in politics are wrongly defined hence creating lot of ruckus and dirty games. However, country witnessed magnificent change in year 2014 and the definition of politics also changed positively. He called upon the gathering to salute the three ultimate givers which are the God, the Parents and the Teachers. Dr. Sharma advised the gathering to imbibe the habit of listening since by listening one tends to learn a lot while by just speaking a person tends to share the secrets.

 

Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency Mr. Augusto Montiel, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela talked about the strong relations between India and Venezuela and informed that 1/4th of oil used for industry development in India comes from Venezuela. He lauded Amity for creating global leaders who can innovate and inspire entrepreneurship and ignite wealth creation for development of nation. He opined that there is a need to boost conditions to be creative for innovation and entrepreneurship. Solution making institutions can be established by synergizing the stakeholders. His Excellency Mr. Montiel averred that for creating best of conditions, International rules,regulations and agreements must be respected and applied for a multilateral world wherein everyone shares the common needs for development and are mutually benefitted from the development.

 

Prof.(Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, General Chair – ICEIL’2018 & Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh shared that it is a unique conference which has conglomerate of doyens from industry and academia along with whole strata of young students, budding entrepreneurs and achievers from across the globe together on one platform, to have in-depth discussions, share their experiences, exchange new ideas and present their research results in technopreneurship and Leadership. She further added that the conference has witnessed the participation of more than 400 keynote speakers who will deliberate on various topics in parallel 75 sessions during the three day conference and there are around 200 student participants from various institutions across the country. Dr. Shukla remarked that this conference brings together all the discipline of businesses to think and come up with common solutions, which is the need of the hour for sustainable growth. She pointed out, “For economic development, value creation, societal growth,businesses and nation development, entrepreneurship is very important.”

 

Addressing the gathering, Shri. Vijay Kumar, Director, MSME-DI, New Delhi mentioned that entrepreneurship and innovation are the new age components as an alternate to jobs. With technological advancement and automation, government and private jobs are limited, hence there is a need to promote entrepreneurship in the system. Briefing about the role and initiatives of Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to support the innovative entrepreneurial ideas, Shri Kumar said “if a person has an interesting idea then funding upto 15 lakhs rupees to convert the idea into a commercial viable product is available through MSME. Also, seed funding of 1 crore rupees is provided to start ups.” He stressed that the aim of the ministry is to nurture the ideas as plants till they bore fruits and benefit the creator. He expressed his hope that around 300 new ideas will be submitted at the MSME stall by the budding entrepreneurs during the three day conference. 

During the inaugural, “Amity Excellence / Leadership Awards” was conferred upon Industry Leaders to recognize their achievements and contributions including Mr. Golok Kumar Simli, Principal Consultant, CTO & CDO, Passport Seva, Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India received Amity Excellence Award for Technological Innovations;  Prof. (Dr.) S.N. Singh, Vice Chancellor, Mada nMohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur was presented with Amity Excellence Award for Outstanding Leadership, Innovations and Contributions in Higher Education; Shri Anand Awasthy, Managing Director, NTPC-GE Power Services Private Limited received Amity Leadership Award for Corporate Excellence and Shri Sanjay Malik, Country Head India Operation, Nokia Networks was presented with Amity Leadership Award for Excellence in Telecom Infrastructure Development.

As part of the three day conference, Thematic Expo: Make in India Expo, Made in India Expo, Digital India Expo, Clean India Expo, Skill India Expo and Eureka:Innovative Design Projects / Posters by Students was inaugurated by the delegates wherein various entrepreneurial products, services and projects were on display including ‘Project Switch’- an impact driven social start up that makes health and sustainability simple by providing high quality life-friendly alternatives to toxic plastic; “The Local market & Kitchen”-providing platform to housewives, small shopkeepers and micro businessmen to increase their productivity by connecting them to customers through online platform; “Sip Agro pack”- expert in the field of disposable eco-friendly cups;“Empzilla”- mobile based job chat app which empowers candidates to stay a head by enabling them to be directly connected with the recruiters; “Greensys”- IoT platform for Smart and safe Streets; “Star Homz”- Empowering Rural women by promoting the products created by them; “India’s first café on Scooter” and many more.

 

During the first day, plenary sessions, sectoral sessions and thematic sessions were conducted on various topics such as Entrepreneurship Secret: Balancing Mind,Body and Soul; Social Entrepreneurship:  Transforming Social Impact through Sustainable Social Ventures, Scaling Social Ventures towards Sustainability, Social Innovations Showcase; Innovations and IPR in Pharma Sector – Issues and Challenges; Entrepreneurship Policies and Support – Government Initiatives and their Impact; Balancing the Building Block of Growth and Generational Continuity in Family Businesses and Entrepreneurial opportunities in Media & Entertainment Industry amongst others.

 

The other Conference highlights includes Conference Workshops by acclaimed speakers, Keynote sessions from eminent personalities, 60 +Panel Discussions in Plenary and Concurrent sessions, Research Papers Presentations, Case Study Competition and Lakshya: Business Plan Competition.
