Amity Celebrates World Physiotherapy Day
Making a career in Physiotherapy can be a wise decision as the scope it covers is widening up and expected to offer numerous job options. To introduce students to new and more opportunities in the field of Physiotherapy and to clear their myths about this field, Amity Institute of Physiotherapy organized World Physiotherapy day on 7th September 2012 at Amity Campus, Sector-44, Noida.
Sharing his views during the celebration of World Physiotherapy Day Dr. S.S.Agarwal, Pro Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh said that it is an auspicious day for physiotherapists and “Physiotherapy is a noble profession, thus it should be learnt, taught and practiced cautiously” he added.
Dr. Dharmender Singh, Director, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute of physically Handicapped said that its an immense pleasure to be a part of such an exciting celebration. “If we have accepted a noble profession, we should maintain the limits of it” he said. Physiotherapy has become a very important technique for curing pain through understanding the process of Pain, Mind and Movement. Physiotherapists from India are serving throughout the world, and are proud to be a part of such a profession which helps others in fighting the most crucial diseases, said Dr. Singh.
Dr. Alaknanda Banerjee, Physiotherapist, Max Hospital, Saket apprised students with an inspirational and motivational speech and said “To be a successful Physiotherapist, one need to understand the value of course and teachers”. She also said this is a wonderful day and an important milestone for World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT). “Learn basic attributes of physiotherapy profession, build strong character and be a trustworthy personality to get success in this field” remarked Dr. Banerjee. A deep understanding of key to success of this profession needs to be understand which is “Mobility” along with an understanding of Holistic functions. To demystify the myth that there is no money in this profession, she further added students need to come out of it, as its not just a physiotherapist who struggles in initial days rather every other fields professional also struggles initially. At last she said “Physiotherapy profession can give you both the recognition and wealth only if you give your best.
Students of Amity Institute of Physiotherapy also presented a skit showing the importance of Physiotherapy in the Society and a quiz contest was also organized for the Undergraduates and Postgraduates Students. To make this day more auspicious, the institute also organized Blood Donation Camp one day prior to celebrating World Physiotherapy Day.
