Engineering students from Amity generates ripples across the country with their Avant Garde “Amity Formula 1 Race Car”

In a yet another breakthrough achievement by students of Amity, 15 prodigies from the Mechanical and Automation Branch of Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET), Amity University have designed, modelled and fabricated an avant garde Car titled “Amity Formula 1 Race Car”, under the SAE (Society for Automotive Engineering )Collegiate Club of ASET Noida, AUUP.

Amity F1 Race Car is fourth in the chain of innovative cars/Prototypes designed and developed by the Engineering students of Amity including India’s First Tri- Fuel Amity Hybrid Prototype Car, India first 4WD Amity BAJA Vehicle and Amity Suitcase Car.

The unique “Amity Formula 1 Race Car”, after the rigorous and strict inspection by SAE technical team and Maruti Suzuki officials in August 2012, will compete for the title in the SUPRA SAE INDIA 2012 Formula-1 Type Race Car at Buddh International Circuit (BlC) from September 6-9, 2012.

SUPRA SAE INDIA 2012 Formula-1 Type Race Car is a National Competition wherein 60 selected colleges and their designed cars will compete.

The team from Amity School of Engineering and Technology named as “ MACH- RELOADED” registered for SUPRA SAE INDIA 2012 Formula-1 Type Race Car Event in October, 2011 and in February 2012, the model of Amity F1 Race Car was selected amongst 105 models designed by students from Engineering colleges located across India. Thereafter, the sagacious team started working on developing this unique and exceptional Car. The novelty of the car lies in its light weight (340 kgs with 68 kgs of driver) and fast speed which is 105 km/hr.

Congratulating the students for their masterpiece and welcoming such creations, Mr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University said that it is the aim of Amity to promote the talent amongst its students by providing them necessary research oriented and state- of the art infrastructure so that students can bring laurels to their institution and nation. Talking about “Amity Formula 1 Race Car”, the Chancellor said that lot of R&D has gone into the innovative Car designed by the students, which is very important for Engineering students. They should be creative enough to look beyond the books and apply the theoretical knowledge into designing out of the box masterpieces. He stressed, “We look forward to Corporates who can come forward and support such endeavours to help students promote these cars and also for industry guidance to further improvise the cars to make them eco-friendly and commercially viable”. He wished the students good luck for their future and upcoming SUPRA SAE INDIA 2012 Formula-1 Type Race Car at Buddh International Circuit (BlC).

The budding mechanical engineers spoke about their project and varied experiences in the fabrication and designing of the car.

Beaming with joy and exultation, Bishal Jain- the team leader thanked his faculty guide and the institution which not only reposed trust in their talent and capabilities but also motivated them throughout. Talking about the specifications of Amity F1 Race Car, he further said that the Car has Maruti F8B Engine with Rear wheel drive and two radiators, making it absolutely safe and competitive to compete in SUPRA SAE INDIA 2012 Formula-1 Type Race Car Event.

He shared that the final decisive race at BIC would be 22 kms wherein Arjun Chauhan and Mainak Samui from the team will drive 11 kms each. These students were given detailed training in Coimbatore to drive F1 Cars. He asserted that the entire team of “ MACH- RELOADED” is really excited to show their prowess during SUPRA SAE INDIA 2012 Formula-1 Type Race Car and prove their mettle.

The group comprises of fifteen students - Bishal Jain, Mainak Samui, Ishant Jain, Shivansh Rajwansh, Varun Kumar, Arjun Chauhan, Manpreet Sahanpal, Mohit Gupta, Ayush Mundra, Anshuman Bansal, Rahul Kumar, Abhimanyu Chauhan, Ashish Garg, Mihir Singh and Dharam Singh.

The details of other innovative cars/Prototypes designed and developed by the Engineering students of Amity are:-
- India’s First Tri- Fuel Amity Hybrid Prototype Car- designed with multiple fuel options--- Batteries, Auto LPG and petrol by ten students from Mechanical branch of Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET).
- Indias first 4WD Amity BAJA vehicle- Using an innovative front suspension design, a 275 cc Lombardini LGA 280 (9 HP) Gasoline engine and 8 Forward and 2 Reverse Gears, Amity 4WD BAJA Vehicle, was the result of 6 months of hard work of the Engineering students of Amity. It also became the first Indian model to use alloy steel for its chassis for lighter weight and strength, apart from other innovations such as a customised gear-box and aircraft grade aluminium.
- Amity Suitcase Car- Confronted with the challenge of shrinking parking spaces, skyrocket buildings and exploding urban traffic, Amity engineering students have developed a one seater, light weight vehicle that can be folded and packed into a suitcase. The Suitcase Car is powered by a two stroke single cylinder gasoline engine. The engine capacity is 49 cc and using an air cooling system. The engine has a pull type starting mechanism that is operated manually. By this output the car can be travel at a speed of 40 Km/hr.
