Prof. Takashi Ogura, Professor, University of Hyogo, Japan Visits Amity University to deliver an acknowledging Lecture on” Vibration Spectroscopy Study”
To discuss the Vibrational Spectroscopic study on the reaction mechanism of Heme-Proteins, Amity Institute of Applied Sciences, organized a special lecture by Prof. Takashi Ogura,Professor and Director of Picobiology Institute, University of Hyogo,Japan at Amity Campus, Sector-125, Noida to facilitate faculty and students with advanced knowledge in their respective field of Applied Sciences.
Raman Spectroscopy was invented in 1928 by Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, the only Noble Laureate in Physics from India which is a
spectroscopic technique used to study vibrational, rotational, and other low-frequency modes in a system. It relies on inelastic scattering or Raman scattering of monochromatic light, usually from a laser in the visible, near infrared, or near ultraviolet range.
Addressing the august gathering Prof. Takashi Ogura, firstly acknowledged the gathering about the contribution of Raman Spectroscopy and made a presentation on Raman Spectroscopy including the major topics via Molecular presentation, Resonance Raman Spectroscopy of Dioxygen, Absorption spectra of Hemoglobin, Cytochrome c oxidase and Indoleamine ,2, 3- dioxygenase and then discussed basic principles of highly powerful Raman scattering technique based on Raman effect, he also shared few examples of application of this technique to understand protein dynamics in heme-proteins, probing the structural changes to understand the mechanism of functioning of enzymes. ” Raman Spectroscopy is a powerful technique to study the structure and dynamics of protein” explained Prof. Ogura.
