Amity Institute of Environment Toxicology Safety and Management organised workshop on Promotion of Bicycle Use As Modest Means of Transport - An Awareness Campaign for Students and Youth on March 12, 2010 at Amity University Campus, Sector 125, NOIDA.
The event was supported by Indian Environment Society (IES) under National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC) and Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF).
On this occasion Dr. Tanu Jindal, Director, Amity Institute of Environment Toxicology Safety and Management said that using bicycle is not only conserve energy but also good for health as cycling is a good exercise. Cycling is cost effective as it requires less maintainence and no fuel. Cycle is environment friendly as there is no toxic gas emmission and will decrease global warming. It reduces congestion and it has no sound pollution. Dr. Jindal said that bicycles have been adopted in many developed countries of Europe as well as USA, Japan, Australia etc. as modest means of transport.
