Amity School of Hospitality organises “Maggi Young Chef Contest 2013”
AmitySchool of Hospitality in association with Nestle India Ltd organized 2nd “MaggiYoung Chef Contest 2013” at Amity Campus, Sector- 125, Noida wherein 16teams from hospitality institutes across India participated includingChandigarh College of Hotel Management, Landran, Mohali; Amrapali Institute ofHotel Management, Haldwani; MM Institute of Hotel Management, Ambala; GraphicEra Institute of Hotel Management, Dehradun;Institute of Hotel Management Bhopal and Institute of Hotel Management CateringTechnology & Applied Nutrition, Meerut.
The event aimed at honing the Culinary & Hospitality Skills ofthe students and giving them practical experience of the industry. The teamswere given 3 hours to prepare a starter, main Course and Sweet dish.Subsequently, teams displayed their dishes which were adjudged by pan IndiaChefs including Chef Irfan- Hotel Country Inn and Suits, Ghaziabad; Chef PankajKumar- Hotel Holiday Inn, Aerocity, Indira Gandhi International Airport, ChefSurinder Barwal- Hotel Premium Park, Hari Nagar and Chef Jitendra Kumar- HotelRadisson, Agra on the basis of menu planning, food preparation, taste andtexture.
The winners of the Contest were felicitated during an “AwardCeremony” by the renowned judges .
Addressing the students and motivating them, Chef Pankaj Kumar-Hotel Holiday Inn, Aerocity, Indira Gandhi International Airport said thatculinary is all about passion and if one has this passion then only he/sheshould come into the field.
Manoj Kuwarbi and Prasoon Aggarwal from Amrapali Institute ofHotel Management, Haldwani were adjudged winners of the Contest with their sumptuous menu of “Makhani Sabz Khasta with Dal Kebaband Chat-Pata salad”, “Kadhai Dim with Subz”, “Biryani and four season Raita”and “Chana Roll with Kaju Ki Chatni”.
Megha Agarwal and Raghunat Singh Rawat from IICA, Hauz Khas weredeclared First Runners up .Vivek Kant and Sumit Partidar from Institute ofHotel Management, Bhopal lifted Second Runners up Trophy.
Gaurav Sakkarwal and Aishwarya Raj from Banarsidas ChandiwalaInstitute of Hotel Management, Kalkaji, New Delhi were given special Award for“Best Menu Planned” which comprised of “Exotic prawns and green apple andavocado salsa”, “Lamb chops and saffron risotto with brown gravy” and “Coconutand chocolate Delichey”
NoorMohammad and Rajat Sabarwal, Amity School of Hospitality, Jaipur werefelicitated for Most Innovative use of Maggi ingredients.
HimanshuTaneja and Mr Gurvansh Singh, Amity School of Hospitality, Noida were awardedfor Best Presentation.
