Dr. Sheldon Levy, President- Ryerson University, Canada visits Amity University Uttar Pradesh
Dr. Sheldon Levy, President, Ryerson University, Canada visited Amity University to mull over the potential areas of collaboration. Dr. Levy was accompanied by Ms. Marsha McEachrane, Director International Relations, Mr. Matt Saunders, CEO - Ryerson Futures Inc. and Mr. Aaron Rosland, Counselor (Commercial-Ontario) - Canadian High Commission, New Delhi.
The delegation was received by Dr. A.K. Nagpal, Chairman Board of Governors, Ritnand Balved Medical Foundation; Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President – ASTIF; Dr. Sunil Saran, Sr. Vice Chairman – ASTIF; Wg Cdr S.K. Goel, Dy. Director – International Affairs Department.
While briefing about the Ryerson University, Dr. Sheldon Levy, President, Ryerson University said that Ryerson University is one of the biggest university of Canada having 25,000 students studying under four streams of Engineering, Business, Creative Art and Science & Technology. Dr. Levy said that as a technical university, our aim is that our students should have good jobs and for this we are directly connected to industry. All the programs are designed to make career. All faculty members have research background. Dr Levy said that three years ago they have started incubator to make their students young and successful entrepreneurs. Dr. Levy informed that in the incubator they have 90 companies at any given time. Dr. Levy said that they wish that every one talks about innovation and there he wants to bring together Amity and Ryerson in research and innovation.
Mr. Matt Saunders, CEO - Ryerson Futures Inc. said that the model of their incubator is to build entrepreneur of future with the help of network of connections and advisors. Mr. Saunders said that they bring CEOs to the incubator and raises venture capital from various institutes. Mr. Saunders informed that they plan to start an incubator at Bombay Stock Exchange in near future.
While addressing the delegation members, Dr. A.K. Nagpal, Chairman Board of Governors, Ritnand Balved Medical Foundation said “If we have to change the world, let’s start with Amity. We are University, we have incubator and we also have similar setup.
Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President – ASTIF said that Amity is a young university which is actively involved in research and innovation. Under single umbrella, Amity have science, technology, management, Arts etc. Amity Innovation Incubator has more than 100 companies. Dr. Selvamurthy informed that India is investing heavily in Science & Technology and private sector industries are focusing on Research & Development which will result in more collaboration.
Mr. Ojasvi Babbar, AGM – Amity Innovation Incubator briefed the delegation about the infrastructure and facilities available at Amity Innovation Incubator.
It was followed by a meeting with Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Acting Vice Chancellor – Amity University, Uttar Pradesh.
Delegation also visited Amity Innovation Incubator.
