Amity Institute of Education, New Delhi organises workshop on “Teaching through Innovative Techniques and Methods"
Amity Institute of Education, New Delhi organized a workshop on “Teaching through Innovative Techniques and Methods” on July 25, 2013 at Amity Campus, Saket, New Delhi. The workshop was aimed to advise and advocate innovations in the teaching-learning process for the children from underprivileged section of society.
The workshop was truly inspired by the concern for the underserved and the strong inclination Respected Founder President Sir, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan and Honorable Chairperson of Amity Group of Schools Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, has towards philanthropic values.
Dr. Ranjana Bhatia-Prof. & Principal, Amity Institute of Education, Delhi inaugurated the workshop.
The event witnessed seventy three teachers as participants from nine different NGOs across Delhi /NCR. The participating NGOs were Child Survival India, Chetna, Little Ones Public School, Mobile Crèches, Khushi Shikshantra, Amitasha, Atulasha, Ank and Community Aid and Sponsorship Program (CASP). Each participant was awarded a certificate of participation.
Sharing her views during the occasion, Dr. Ranjana Bhatia-Prof. & Principal, Amity Institute of Education, Delhi emphasized the need of innovative techniques and methods for teaching students from underprivileged section of the society and said that Innovative techniques in teaching is the need of the hour. Dr Bhatia said that we have to give more attention to nurture these students and have to bring at par with mainstream students.
Spread over three sessions, the workshop provided food for thought and inspired the audience to undergo a process of retrospection and to adopt innovation in teaching various subjects like English, Hindi, Environmental Sciences and Mathematics.
The teachers were motivated to foster creativity in classrooms and to fortify the teaching learning process through innovative activities like brain storming, mind mapping and discovery learning. The use of crossword puzzles, nature walk, field trips, sand and clay as effective techniques of teaching simple concepts of mathematics was suggested. The innovative way of adopting integrating approach in solving problems was also taught in the sessions. The role of reading, writing and speaking was taught with nine creative ways to make teaching of English interesting. Communicative approach of disseminating information in languages was highlighted as well.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation by the teachers who came up with innovative ideas and suggestions on the main theme and the sub themes of the seminar.
