Amity Law School Centre-II organised Guest Lecture Cum Workshop on “Careers in Information Technology Law & Intellectual Property Law”

Prof. Mamta Srivastava, Addl. Director, ALS Centre II and other faculty members welcomed a team of IPR and Cyber laws experts led by Mr. Rodney D.Ryder, Managing Partner, Scriboard, Advocates & Legal Consultants, Mr.James M., Director, Enhelion Knowledge Ventures Pvt. Ltd, Mr. Ashwin Madhavan,Director, Enhelion Knowledge Pvt Ltd on the Amity premises on September 23, 2013. The team of experts addressed an audience of more than five hundred students about IPR and cyber laws.

In the beginning, the Additional Director of ALS Centre 2 addressed the students of the department and informed them that they were fortunate to have India’s most prominent experts in thearea of cyber laws, who would talk to them about the changing trends in the IT sector and how this change requires constant change in cyber laws. Prof. Mamta Srivastava also thanked the team led by Mr. Rodney Ryder for including ‘Resume Writing’ in this workshop, which would help the fourth year students of ALS Centre 2 in preparing their resume for jobs and the others for their internships.

After the welcome note by the Additional Director, the team of Cyber laws experts through an interactive session informed the students of scope of Cyber laws. Mr. Ryder said that there is a very good prospect for those pursuing Intellectual Property Rights (IPR )laws. This has now become a compulsory paper from an optional one and this has to do with rising risks in this area. Mr. Ryder very aptly compared the risks involved in real estate construction work with risks involved in IPR. The team delved deeper into intricacies involving domain names, trademarks and protection of intellectual property.

Highlighting the current concerns of governments across the world, they said that today interception of communication has become essential because enemies are no longer known to us.They hide behind shadows and in this case behind digitized walls. Thus, only the governments can and should control the Internet.

The other experts James. M and Ashwin Madhawan discussed the importance of writing skills for a lawyer and stressed on learning the basics before choosing an area of specialisation. Mr. Ashwin Madhwan later talked about the course related to IT and IPR offered by their organization, Enhelion.

At the end of the program, Prof. Mamta Srivastava, Addl. Director, Amity Law School Centre -II felicitated the distinguished guest by presenting mementos and requested the team to visit the department again for a sequel to the workshop discussion.
