Film Making Workshop for AMITASHA students concludes

A “Film Making Workshop” for the students of Amitasha , studying in classes X and XI concluded today at Amity Campus, Sector-125, Noida with the screening of three films –“Rahein”, “Pahla kadam” and “Sapno ki Udaan” which were produced by over 22 students of Amitasha running in Amity International School,Noida and Saket.

The films’ messages focused on sensitive issues like –“Focus on studiesnot being deterred by lack of resources”, “Ragging” and “Empowerment of the womenin male dominated professions.”

During the workshop, the students learnt the art of making a film through innovative methods. They were trained by the faculty members of Amity School of Communications –Ms. Gauri Chakraborty and Mr. Tushar Madhav along with the studio staff. They studied various aspects of Film Making like application of a video camera, types of camera angles,variety of shots, sound editing, lighting and video editing. Their training comprised of three stages. During Stage No 1, they were taught the basics of  language of cinema and story telling, Stage-2 involved practical with the equipments, use of camera and sound equipments tomake rough cuts and final stage included the know –how of production.

Amitasha is a philanthropic Project which Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan-Chairperson, Amity International Schools started in 1999 under Amity Humanity Foundation to ameliorate the condition of underprivileged girl children by providing them free education, uniform, books, food and health facilities.

Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan-Chairperson, Amity International Schools, Mrs. Divya Chauhan- Chairperson,Amity School and Mrs. Jaishree Chauhan blessed the students during thevalediction ceremony.

Motivating the students, Dr.(Mrs.) Amita Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity International Schools said “Iam amazed by the talent of Amitasha students and the perfection with which the students have made these films is noteworthy. Amitasha students are second tonone; all they need are opportunities to bring forth their talent. Through the workshop, they have learnt an additional vocational skill by being a part of this workshop which will benefit them in future.”

Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan felicitated Amitasha students and awarded them with a certificate and a copy of the DVD ofthe films which they had produced. Prof. RK Dargan and the entire team of Amity School of Communication associated with the workshop were felicitated with the Amitasha Trophy of support by Dr. (Mrs.) Chauhan

“I always thought that making a film was a very easy task but after attending the workshop and directing a short film, I have realized that Film Making is a very comprehensive art and it encapsulates all other art forms,” said Poonam Jha, student of Class XI Amitasha Noida and Director of Film ‘Raahein’.

“Making a film was an amazing experience for me, the message which we have given in our movie ‘Sapno Ki Udaan’ is that, girls are capable of taking up any profession in today’s era and that the gender based discrimination in our society should come to an end,”said Laxmi Khinchi, Amitasha, Saket,Class XI student and Director of film Sapno Ki Udaan.
