Amity School of Engineering & Technology organises Faculty Development Program on "Latest Tools and Techniques in Data Mining"

Department of Information Technology of Amity School of Engineering & Technology, in association with Amity Academic Staff College organized a three days Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Latest Tools and Techniques in Data Mining from June 18, 2013 to June 20, 2013.

 

FDP was attended by faculty from different institutions of AUUP and witnessed leading practitioners from Industry and experts from academia to share a common platform for deliberations on Data Mining.

In the inaugural session, on 18th June, 2013, Prof. (Dr.) K. M. Soni, Deputy Director and Head, ASET gave the welcome address and opening remarks for the three day FDP. The theme of the workshop was introduced by Ms. Nitasha Hasteer, Acting Head, IT, ASET.  Prof. (Dr.) V.P.S. Arora, Dean Academics, AUUP addressed the audience and emphasized on the importance of conducting such workshops. Dr. (Mrs.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor (Actg.), AUUP shared her experiences and knowledge on the topic Data Mining and its relevance according to research perspectives. Mr. Vineet Tyagi, Associate Vice President and Head of Innovation Labs, Impetus was the esteemed guest for the inaugural session.

Mr. Vineet Tyagi, Associate Vice president from Impetus discussed about Big Data Analytics: An Industry perspective followed by a talk on the topic Data Mining at Scale and in Real Time.

The second day of the FDP started with the wonderful talk of Dr. T. V. Vijay Kumar, Professor from JNU, New Delhi. He discussed about Nature Inspired Computing. He described that characteristic for human-designed computing inspired by nature is the metaphorical use of concepts, principles and mechanisms underlying natural systems.

The afternoon session was given by Dr. J. Ranjan from IMT, Ghaziabad. She shared her ideas and knowledge on the topic Business Analytics and Data Mining. She motivated the faculty to do research in this field and has given many useful tips related to research.

The third and the last day of the FDP started with an expert talk by Dr. Vasudha Bhatnagar from Delhi University on the topic Data understanding using semi supervised clustering. She discussed various process models for knowledge discovery in databases and designing data mining algorithms for classification, clustering and different types of item sets. The FDP ended with the concluding remarks by Ms. Nitasha Hasteer, Acting Head, Department of Information Technology, ASET
