Amity University confers Honorary Doctorate Degrees in Law on Shri. S.P. Gupta -Advocate General, Uttar Pradesh and Shri. Rajiv Nayar, Sr. Advocate, Delhi High Court during a Special Convocation
Amity University held a special Convocation and honored two legal luminaries- Shri. S.P. Gupta -Advocate General, Uttar Pradesh and Shri. Rajiv Nayar, Sr. Advocate, Delhi High Court with Doctorate Degrees in Law (Honoris Causa) during a solemn ceremony organized at the University Campus, Noida.
Mr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh declared the Convocation open and Dr. B Shukla- Acting Vice Chancellor, Amity University presented the recipients of the Honoris Causa Degree to the Chancellor for the award of the Degrees
Speaking during the occasion, Dr, Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group praised the recipients of Honoris Causa Degrees and referred to both the recipients as trailblazers of legal profession and great visionaries, who have dedicated their lives to this profession. Dr. Chauhan shared his vision and mission of making Amity one of the top educational institutions of the world by providing the best of Western education enriched with best of Eastern sanskaars, traditions and culture in Amity Institutions.
Delivering his acceptance speech, Shri. S.P. Gupta -Advocate General, Uttar Pradesh stressed that great educational institutions like Amity are on the way to surpass the past glory of old and established universities including Allahabad University, where he himself has studied. Lauding the perseverance, passion, vision and imagination of Dr. Chauhan towards bringing a revolution in education, he called Amity as Truly incredible academic institution which has grown by leaps and bounds. Talking about the legal profession, Shri Gupta stressed that legal education has changed significantly over the years. Today, law students are better aware and well equipped but at the same time, he lamented the decline of ethics in legal profession. He called upon the law teachers to instill a belief in students that law has to be practiced with honesty, integrity and dignity, without being carried away by the temptations of making easy money in a short span of time. He affirmed that success of a lawyer depends upon his information and knowledge of law and his ability to present the case, rather than legal background of the lawyer.
Expressing his pleasure on being conferred Honorary Doctorate Degree in Law, Shri. Rajiv Nayar, Sr. Advocate, Delhi High Court thanked Amity University for reposing trust in his capabilities and awarding him the Doctorate Degree. He complemented Dr. Ashok Chauhan and Amity University for their immense contribution to the legal profession by grooming over 3, 500 budding lawyers who are enrolled in the law schools of Amity. Sharing his success Mantras, Shri Nayar stressed, “Nothing succeeds like being honest to oneself and have a sense of integrity.” He advised the budding lawyers to be patient and not run after quick money and gains. He commended Amity University for teaching students that if they are sincere to themselves, they will be successful in their lives.
