Prof. Nie Hong, Vice President – Nanjing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics, China visits Amity to discuss potential areas of collaboration

A high powered delegation from Nanjing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics (NUAA), China visited Amity University to mull over the potential areas of collaboration. The delegation comprised of Prof. Nie Hong, Vice President – NUAA; Prof. Jin Quan Yuan, Director – Foreign Affairs, NUAA and Prof. Rajesh Kumar.

The delegation was received by Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Acting Vice Chancellor Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Prof. V.P.S Arora, Dean – Academics, Amity University, Dr. Alka Munjal, Director– Academics, Amity University and Maj Gen R.K. Dhawan, Advisor – International Affairs Department, Amity.

Welcoming the delegates, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Acting Vice Chancellor Amity University said that it is a proud moment for Amity to host delegation from Nanjing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics (NUAA). Amity University has 9 global campuses spread across the world including campuses in Nanjing and Beijing in China. Dr Shukla said that Amity and NUAA is already collaborating in the area of student exchange. Amity students are studying at NUAA as part of the academic collaboration. Dr Shukla outlined several key areas which could be mutually beneficial such as joint PhD programs, student exchange, faculty exchange, joint projects, joint seminars, workshops etc.

 

While briefing the audience about Nanjing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics, Prof. Jin Quan Yuan, Director – Foreign Affairs said that NUAA is research based university established in 1952. It is running 52 graduate and 169 post graduate programs in 14 colleges in its two campuses located in Minggyogong and Jianjunur having around 25 thousand students with 1600 faculty members. More than 1,10,000 students have been graduated from NUAA since its inception. Prof. Yuan said that NUAA is conducting programs in Aerospace, Energy & Powerm Automation, Electronics, Mechanical & Electrical, Material Science, Civil Aviation & Flight Technology, Space Science, Economics & Management, Humanity Science, Arts, Foreign Language, Computer Science, International Education and Continuing Education. Prof. Yuan informed that around 800 international Student are studying from different partner universities including Amity University.

 

Mr. Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor – Amity University Rajasthan and Additional President – Ritnand Balved Education Foundation expressed that collaboration between Amity and NUAA is more than 7 years old. Amity students who have experienced the campus life of NUAA during student exchange program have always appreciated full cooperation and comfort at NUAA. Mr. Chauhan further stated that Chinese and Indian brains are best in the world and if these two brains come together than they can make a new world. Mr. Chauhan added that any collaboration between two universities can happen at ground level between the faculty and students. Mr. Chauhan stressed that potential areas of collaboration have to be find our which should be within government policies and beneficial for both countries.

 

During the occasion, Mr. Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor – Amity University Rajasthan and Additional President – Ritnand Balved Education Foundation conferred Visiting Professorship to Prof. Nie Hong, Vice President – NUAA at Amity Institute of Aerospace of Engineering.

 

While accepting the Visiting Professorship, Prof. Nie Hong said that it is his honour to be awarded honorary professorship of Amity University. Prof. Hong said India and China have similar identity and situations. People of both countries are very hard working and share ancient history. Prof. Hong said that he will look forward to joint conferences, student exchange and faculty exchange between two universities.

 

Identifying and expressing the potential areas of collaboration with NUAA, Dr. Sanjay Singh, Director – Amity Institute of Aerospace Engineering said that student exchange for short term projects, summer internship can be facilitated between two universities. Joint conferences, faculty exchange program, special faculty development programs can be planned between two universities.

Prof. (Dr.) V.P.S. Arora, Dean – Academics; Prof. S. Sitaraman, Advisor, ACGC ; Dr. K M Soni, Dy. Director & Head, ASET; Dr. Himanshu Mohan, Director, Amity School of Business; Dr. Abhay Bansal, HOD ASET (CSE) were present during the occasion.
