Amity ties up with TATA Motors and National Skill Development Corporation for ambitious Prime Minister Skill Development Program - UDAAN
Amity Business School (ABS), Amity University and TATA Motors have signed a 5 year MOU for training of Field Work Managers for various TATA Service Centers. ABS is a strategic partner of TATA Motors for the prestigious Prime Minister Skill Development Program - UDAAN, initiative of National Skill Development Corporation - Govt. of India. Under this scheme, 45 Works Manager Trainees from the State of Jammu & Kashmir would be trained by Amity Business School for three month Residential Management Training.
The training program was inaugurated on August 23, 2013 at Amity Business School, Amity University by Mr. K. Skandan, Additional Secretary – Ministry of Home Affairs; Mr. Sanjeev Garg, Global Head Customer Care – Tata Motors; Mr. Abhishek Hegde - National Skill Development Corporation; Dr. Sanjiv Bansal, Director – Amity Business School.
During his opening remarks Mr. K. Skandan, Additional Secretary – Ministry of Home Affairs said to the participants that it is a privilege of the participants to have been chosen for such a wonderful training program initiated by National Skill Development Corporation and Tata. This type of opportunity is not given to everyone but selected ones only. Addressing the participants from Jammu & Kashmir, Mr. Skandan added that it is a right for you to work in any corporate sector in India. NSDC and Tata are facilitators to help you to take first step to enter in corporate world. Mr. Skandan added that there are lots of challenges and if there no challenges, you will not need management and leadership. Acquire the skills and knowledge and live life greatly, asserts Mr. Skandan.
Mr. Sanjeev Garg, Global Head Customer Care – Tata Motors said that the move to collaborate with NSDC under UDAAN scheme is to create employment opportunities for the educated youth of J&K by providing them with skillful practical knowledge of vehicle operations with management expertise. Mr. Garg said that this training program is divided into two parts. First three months at Amity Business School wherein all the participants will learn management aspects and rest 3 months at Jamshedpur centre of Tata Motors in which operations part will be taught. Mr. Garg announced to the participants that after the training, all of them will be recruited by dealers of Tata Motors and after 2-3 years, whenever Tata needs manpower they will absorb them to Tata Motors from the dealers. Talking about Tata Motors, Mr Garg said that Tata Motors is the largest automobile company in India with 67% market share. Mr. Garg said that the key elements of growth in business are Customer and Channel Partner. In customer care, we look into exceeding customer expectations and increasing channel partner profitability.
Mr. Abhishek Hegde - National Skill Development Corporation said that UDAAN is a special industry initiative for Jammu & Kashmir envisaged as an industry led program, wherein corporate will tap into the large pool of educated youth of J&K and provide them training to make them employment ready. Mr. Hegde said that this is the flagship program of TATA motors under UDAAN scheme. NSDC has around 33 corporates enrolled under this scheme. This is a unique opportunity for the youths of J&K to brighten their career prospects and upgrade skills for better jobs.
Dr. Sanjiv Bansal, Director – Amity Business School (ABS) said that ABS has signed MoU with TATA Motors to undertake various management training and development program. Amity has tied up with Tata, NSDC and Ministry of Home Affairs to initiate Prime Minister Skill Development Program – UDAAN. Dr. Bansal said that skill gap is a burning issue in the country. In India, going to a University may not make you skilled since there is lack of applied centric and field centric learning. Government of India has high priority for skill development and our endeavor will be to convert you to be industry ready, therefore such programme are vey vital for future job prospects.
One of the participant Mr. Sameer Ahmed Paray from Kashmir said that he has done B.E Mechanical from Kashmir University and will like to work in the automobile industry in future. Mr. Paray said that there is lack of corporate interaction in Jammu & Kashmir and this training will help him get exposure to interact with corporate and get job opportunities.
Another participant Mr. Syed Musib, BE Mechanical from Kashmir University said that it is a golden opportunity to us to get trained by Tata Motors at Amity. Mr. Musib said that through this training he will get hand on practical exposure to the operations of an automobile company.
Mr. Ramandeep Singh from Jammu said that he alongwith 7 batch mates from MBS College - Jammu University are participating in this training program. It is very exciting to be part of this prestigious initiative and we all will definitely benefit from it.
