Amity University, Noida celebrates International Youth Day
International Youth Day is an awareness day designated by United Nations. It is meant as an opportunity for governments and others to draw attention to youth issues worldwide. To recognize the youth of today and to create an awareness universal brotherhood, Amity University celebrated Amity International Youth Week from August 6-12, 2013 at Amity University Campus, Sector-125 Noida. The theme of International Youth Week is "Youth for Human Rights”.
The valedictory ceremony of Amity International Youth Week was held today wherein Begum Yaman Khan – Classical Singer; Shri Anthony Raja, President - All India Council of Human Rights, Liberties & Social Justice; Shri Navin Kumar Jaggi, Chairman - Balkan ji Bari International; Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President – Amity Group; Dr. Alka Munjal, Director – Academics, Amity University were present during the Celebration.
Shri Anthony Raja, President - All India Council of Human Rights, Liberties & Social Justice said that in todays increasingly globalized and interconnected world in which more people migrate than ever before in human history, young migrants have become powerful agents of positive change and development. Young people make up a significant share of the global number of international migrants. In 2010, there were an estimated 27 million international young migrants. While migration can often offer valuable opportunities and contribute to the development of communities and society at large, it can also pose risks and lead to unacceptable situations, including discrimination and exploitation. The 2013 observance of International Youth Day will raise awareness of the opportunities and risks associated with youth migration, share knowledge and information stemming from recent research and analysis on this topic, and engage young people in discussions on their migration experiences.
Shri Navin Kumar Jaggi, Chairman - Balkan ji Bari International said that we all have to understand the problems of youth; they have lot of energy but have to channelize properly. Mr. Jaggi urged the young audience that if your energy and our experience joins together than it can create wonders. Mr. Jaggi said that one should never underestimate the potential of youth and should try to motivate them if they have some new ideas and thoughts.
Begum Yaman Khan – Classical Singer said that it is very important to be grounded to ones own culture. Begum Khan said that we Indians have always excelled in all fields, and our youth should be such a shining example that where ever they go, people should talk high of Indians intelligence and culture.
Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President – Amity Group said that youth are the driving force for the development of any country. Our country is blessed with more than 50% of its population below the age of 25 and more than 65% below the age of 35. With such a huge young force, no one can stop our country to become superpower in any arena. Dr. Chauhan said that our country has potential to excel, what we need is change. Our youth will lead our country and world.
On this occasion Dr. Ashok K Chauhan announced the establishment of Amity International Youth Foundation wherein the youth of Amity can interact with the youth of other universities across the globe on academic and international matters.
Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Acting Vice Chancellor, Amity University presented a brief summary of the activities performed during the Amity International Youth Week. Dr. Shukla said that during the Youth Week, Essay Competition, Debate competition, Slogan writing Competition and Rangoli Competition were also organized.
During the occasion famous singer “Shankar Sahney” enthralled the audience with his performance and motivated the youth with his soul stirring compositions like Kudi Kurmuri, Dil lena khel hai dildaar kaa.
Students of Amity University also presented a song cum drama highlighting the issues of corruption and rape in our society and vowed to combat such crimes together and come forward to make the country safe and peaceful.
