Hundreds of students across the globe show keen interest for learning Science and Mathematics during “International Olympiad” and “National Mathematics Workshop” at Amity University
Amity Institute of Competitive Examination (AICE) and Amity Centre for Science Olympiads (ACSO ) started week long “2nd Amity International Olympiad for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Biology” and “14th Amity National Mathematics Workshop” from May 19- 25, 2013 at Amity Campus, Sector- 125, Noida.
Welcoming the august gathering, Ms. Meenakshi Rawal-Director, Amity Institute of Competitive Examination (AICE) presented a brief summary of the Workshop and Olympiad and highlighted that the student participation in both the events has increased from previous years, which is a testimony of the culture of excellence followed by Amity Institutions. She congratulated all the students for their overwhelming participation and wished them luck.
Sharing her views, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity International Schools encouraged the students to try and learn the most from teachers and mentors who would enlighten them with their vast experience during the week. She called upon them to work with complete determination, dedication and devotion during the workshop and Olympiad and give their best.
Mrs. Hui Meng-Deputy Director (Teaching), Nanjing High School expressed her gratitude for inviting her to the Olympiad and stressed that such competitive events would promote the friendship between India and China and would bring both the countries and its nationals closer.
Dr. Kannan- Olympiad Expert and Faculty of Mathematics, SASTRA University, Tamil Nadu, while sharing his views with the gathering, highlighted how learning Mathematics can be fun in the classroom.
Over 150 students of classes VI to XII from schools across Delhi/ NCR including DPS Faridabad, N. K. Bagrodia Public School, Rohini, St. Columbus School, Noida, Indian School, K.V. Gole Market and all Amity International Schools are participating in “14th Amity National Mathematics Workshop”
“2nd Amity International Olympiad for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Biology” has witnessed the participation of over 100 students from the schools located in Malaysia, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, China, Mauritius and India including Specialized School Lyceum No. 165, Lyceium No. 90, Lyceium No. 173, Republican Physical Mathematical School, Specialized School Lyceum No. 92 for gifted children M. Gandhi from Kazakhstan, Afghan Turk High School from Afghanistan.
During the Workshop and International Olympiad, students are being trained by renowned faculty members from different Universities as well as from Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute of Mathematics Olympiads and Sastra University, Kumbakonam. Students are motivated to strive for better and deeper understanding of scientific facts and data and to enhance their reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills, thereby grooming them for National and International Olympiads. They start their day with “Yoga” which is followed by two sessions with the experts and doubt clearing sessions in the late evening.
