Faculty from Amity Institute of Microbial Technology participates at Seminar on Guar Gum Farming at Hanumangarh Rajasthan

Amity Institute of Microbial Technology participated at a Seminar on Guar Gum Farming organised by Sunita Hydrocolloids Pvt. Ltd. at Hanumangarh Rajasthan. Dr. Amit C Kharkwal, Dy. Director & Head - Amity Institute of Microbial Technology delivered lecture on newly developed fungus “Rootonic” which can be helpful to increase yield of guar if guar seeds treated with this fungus. 

To promote guar cultivation among farmers in Rajasthan, SHPL distributed certified guar seeds to around 2000 farmers without any cost.

During seed distribution program, Mr. P.K. Hissaria, managing Director, SHPL, addressed farmers and conveyed that demand of guar gum from overseas especially from USA will remain high if prices of guar seeds will move around Rs. 5000-5500 per quintal. Oil & gas companies have started replacing guar gum (partially) with various substitutes which gives comparable and/or better results than guar gum.

  

Dr. B.S. Chillar, Ex-Direactor Research, Haryana Agriculture University, Hisar presented his lecture on different verities of guar with their respective cultivation areas.

 

Dr. D. Kumar, Ex-Scientist, Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI), Jodhpur delivered his lecture on cultivation of guar in different states of India like Andhra, Tamilnadu, M.P. etc. Also he told that guar is being cultivated in other countries like USA, Australia, Tanzania, Africa etc.
