Amity Institute of Travel and Tourism organises Faculty Development Programme on Research Methodologies in Humanities and Social Sciences

Amity Institute of Travel and Tourism in association with Amity Academic Staff College organised 2 Days Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Research Methodologies in Humanities and Social Sciences on 4th and 5th of June 2013 at Amity University Campus, Sector 125, Noida  

 

On day 01 faculty participants were addressed by  Acting Vice Chancellor Prof.(Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Dean Academics, Prof. V.P.S. Arora, , Director AASC, Dr. Malathi Subramaniam, Dean Faculty Of Hospitality and Tourism, Prof (Dr.) M. Sajnani, and Mr. Pooran Pandey Executive Director, United Nations Global Compact Network (India).   

Acting Vice Chancellor Prof.(Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, in her opening remarks stressed on the need and importance of research in Humanities and Social Sciences.  

Prof. V.P.S. Arora, Dean Academics, AUUP,  in his address stressed that the faculty members shall actively engage in funded research activities and also highlighted scope of research  in social sciences.

The faculty development programme was designed keeping in mind the need of Research Methodology in Social Sciences. Mr. Pooran Pandey discussed the case Study method and story telling as a way of teaching learning pedagogy.  

The Key Resource person for the second day was Prof Anand P Gupta, presently Director, Institute for Economic Management, New Delhi (formerly Professor of Economics, IIM Ahmedabad). He discussed the relevance of the theory of change approach in social sciences with the help of useful research studies to substantiate his point.  

 Large number faculty members across different institutions of Amity University Uttar Pradesh participated in the programme.
