Mr. Rubuka Aloyss, Ambassador of Burundi alongwith Delegation from University of Burundi visits Amity University to mull over the potential areas of collaboration.

The eminent members that formed the part of the delegation included Dr. Paul Banderembako, Vice Chancellor University of Burundi, Dr. Gabriel Nadayisaba, Dean of Faculty of Medicine University of Burundi, Mr. Jeremie Ndikumagenge, Project Coordinator and Mr. Bonaventure Bangurambona, Dean of Applied Sciences Faculty

The delegation was received by Prof. S.S. Agrawal, Professor & Advisor, Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Dr. DS Rathore, Advisor, ASFL, Shri. R.M. Aggarwal, Director and Maj Gen R.K. Dhawan, Advisor – International Affairs Department, Amity.

Expressing his happiness over his visit to Amity University, Mr. Rubuka Aloyss, Ambassador of Burundi said that he is amazed to see the progress of Amity University and desired to have such facilities in Burundi also. While talking about University of Burundi, Mr. Aloyss said that vision of university is to provide training for Excellence, based on high quality education and research, for sustainable development.

Dr. Paul Banderembako, Vice Chancellor - University of Burundi said that university was established in 1964 with an aim to provide higher education in science and arts. Having 16,000 students and around 550 teachers, University of Burundi has five campuses running courses in Science, Engineering, Medicine, Psychology, Law, Arts, Agriculture Science and Economic. Dr. Banderembako informed the gathering that University of Burundi is under supervision of Minister of National Education of Burundi and follows Bologna system of education wherein 2 year undergraduate program, 4 years graduate programs and I year Post Graduate program and additional training are conducted.  Dr. Banderembako said that their University is looking on areas for potential collaboration in Telemedicine, consulting, E-learning etc. They are also keen  to be in the platform of Pan-African E-Network conducted by Amity University.

Prof. S.S. Agrawal, Professor & Advisor, Amity Institute of Pharmacy said that potential collaborations can be made in the field of Tele-Medicine, online education in Management etc. He suggested the delegation members to sponsor their students to do M.Tech or B.Tech from Amity University . He further suggested that faculty members from Amity may visit University of Burundi for shorter durations.
