Operetta Performance directed by renowned Spanish Pianist, Borja Mariñoon held at Amity University
Amity School of Film and Drama (ASFD) in association with The Neemrana Music Foundation organized a mesmerizing Musical Show, ‘The Republic of Love’, an Operetta performance directed by the Spanish Pianist, Borja Mariñoon at Amity University, Sector-125, Noida Campus.
Ms. Priya Wacziarg, Managing Trustee of the Neemrana Music Foundation said that written in 1909 by Vicente Lleó, The Republic of Love is a comic zarzuela which is set in the Indian subcontinent. She apprised that Zarzuela isa popular genre of musical comedy originated in Spain that uses a mix of songs and spoken scenes. This operetta has English lines and Spanish songs. Ms.Wacziarg shared that ‘The Republic of Love’ is a hilarious comedy and the story revolves around a tree which blossoms once in hundred years, producing a fragrance that induces falling in love- with the first buds beginning to appear.
Preceding the show, Mr. Jasmin Martorell- Expert Voice Coach helped audience discover their own opera voice. The practice session was well enjoyed by the students.
Addressing the gathering, Mrs Pooja Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity School of Film and Drama encouraged the students to gain experience of different forms of music genre. She stressed that it is important for every individual to be exposed to several forms of arts and cultures as it inculcates creativity and most importantly, it is a step towards forming inclusive society. She mentioned that Amity has always been a patron of Art and Culture. Mrs Chauhan lauded the Neemrana Foundation for their association with blind school and also making some blind students a part of the show, which provided them with a new avenue to explore.
The show was attended by thousands of students of Amity University who joyfully cheered and applauded the spellbinding performance by the artists.
