Mr Jožef Drofenik, Ambassador delivers lecture at Amity University

HisExcellency, Mr Jožef Drofenik, Ambassador-Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary ofthe Republic of Slovenia to India delivers lecture at Amity University 

Aspart of Ambassador Lecture Series, His Excellency, Mr Jožef Drofenik,Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia toIndia delivered a Lecture on the topic  “Slovenia and European UnionRelations with India in Globalization - Challenges and Opportunities” atUniversity Campus, Sector 125 Noida.

 

HisExcellency was accompanied by Mr Jaka Miklavcic, Minister Plenipotentiary atthe Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia.

 

Addressingthe gathering, His Excellency, Mr Jožef Drofenik briefed about thestrong relations between India and Slovenia, since the time of independence oflatter in 1991.  He apprised that India and Yugoslavia (before theformation of Slovenia) were the founding members of Non-Alignment Movement haveshred political engagement since then and has further exchanges towardsculture, trade and educational agreements. He stressed that India and Slovaniaare natural strategic partners. Emphasizing on Globalization, His ExcellencyMr. Drofenik said that globalizations have impacted various elements includingaccessibility of foreign materials through trade, production of technology andreach of various services.

 

Whilehis views on upcoming European Union (EU) - India Summit to be held at BrusselsHis Excellency Mr. Drofenik said that it is expected that there will bedeliberations upon negotiations for reforming the trade agreements between EUand India. He expressed his thoughts of forming a free trade alliance betweenthe countries.

 

Speakingon the occasion, Mr Jaka Miklavcic said that there are only threeUniversities in Slovania but already have strategic partnerships with someIndian Universities. He invited Amity to explore the possibilities of academiccollaboration along with student exchange programmes with Slovania’seducational institutions. 

 

Thelecture was attended by hundreds of students and faculty members of Amitywherein they gained knowledge of intercontinental diplomacy, European Unionrelations with India, expertise and skills needed by an internationalprofessional etc.
