Amity School of Architecture and Planning organises an exhibition titled “Ganga Kinare – An edge of urban manifestation"

Coinciding with the ‘Ganga SwachhtaPakhwada’ under the Swachh Bharat Mission of GoI, Amity School of Architectureand Planning hosted an exhibition titled “Ganga Kinare – An edge of urbanmanifestation” at Amity University, Noida
The exhibition displayed students’ research and study of nine major settlements along the River Ganga and its distributaries, namely Rishikesh, Haridwar,Kanpur, Allahabad, Varanasi, Bhagalpur, Patna, Chandan Nagar and Kolkata. Morethan 300 students had conducted these studies in a vertical studio last year,making it one of the biggest academic exercises in the country.
The exhibition was inaugurated by luminaries from the industry and a Coffee Table Book was launched by Dr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor,Amity University to mark the occasion. He spoke about the importance of holistic studies and their role in taking development forward in the right manner.
Mr. Pedro Ivo Ferraz da Silva, Secretary of Energy, Environment Science & Technology and Technical Cooperation at the Brazillian Embassy, New Delhi expressed his hope that India and Brazil would learn from each others’ experiences on river fronts.
Dr. Devendra Pratap Singh, Director ASAP, who conceptualized the Project, emphasized to look into the holistic physiognomies of Ganga as “Life holding Life”.
Architect Atul Gupta, President AANZ empathized that rivers are lifelines of civilization and that Ganga is not just a river but a culture of its own.
Mr. Pradepp Misra, CMD REPL,emphasized the role of technologies to retain the characteristics of these cities while achieving the smart objectives to achieve sustainability.
The exhibition hosted two side events – an Industry Interaction Session that witnessed a wide range of presentations from protection of water bodies and related ecosystems to Parametric Modelling.Another was the photography competition themed“Life along the River – Survival and Evolution.”
The exhibition saw a large number of visitors on both days ranging from urban design experts to students and faculties from other Architecture colleges who appreciated the Exhibition.
