Interactive session on Studying in the U.S. and Putting Together a Stellar Application’ at Amity

Amity International Business School organized the visit of  Ms Elizabeth Dennis, an officer of the US Department; Ms. Anubhooti Arora,Education USA Advisor, United States India Educational Foundation, New Delhiand Ms. Ishrat Jahan, Education USA Advisor, United States India EducationalFoundation to present talk under International Lecture Series on ‘Studying in the U.S. and Putting Together a Stellar Application’ at Amity University Noida Campus

The delegation was welcomed by Wg Cdr S.K. Goel, Addl Director - International Affairs Department  and Dr. Manoj Sharma,IAD, Amity University

Ms. Anubhooti Arora and Ms. Ishrat Jahan in their interaction briefed the students about 5 steps to study in US which are:

  1. Research your options – in which University or college or which course you want to apply, meeting eligibility etc.
  2. Finance Your Studies – Your bank statements must prove that the complete study can be financed without any problem. It can be in the form of education loan, fixed deposits etc .
  3. Complete your application as per the procedure laid down by University
  4. Apply for Student Visa after getting your admission secured in the college.
  5. Prepare for your departure

Ms. Arora added that all students can apply for‘Optional Training Program’ on student’s visa. Student can work in US company upto 1 year and if applicant is student of Science & Technology or Maths,then it can be extended further upto 2 years making total of 3 years. Ms. Jahan added that lot of courses in US has option of cooperative program which means that part of the program can be done under supervision of company.

Ms. Arora said that US higher education is driven on 16 year education system. Most of undergraduate 3 years programs of India which is in pattern of 10+2+3 is accepted by US Universities provided they are accredited by UGC, AICTE and NAAC. For MBA programs, most of the universities requires 3 years of work experience. Students from other streams like IT, Maths etc can also apply for MBA.

During the session, students asked pertinent questions which were well responded by the delegation.
