Thousands of students to compete in 19th Inter Amity Institutions Sports Meet ‘Sangathan 2017’ at Amity
19thInter Amity Institutions Sports Meet ‘Sangathan 2017’ - an annual, two-monthlong Sports Event organized to inculcate the values associated with Sports suchas team spirit, camaraderie, healthy competition, perseverance, hard work, dedicationetc and also to commemorate the celebrations of Founder’s Day, commenced todayat University Campus, Sector 125 Noida.
During2 months, over 10,000 students from all Amity Universities and campuses locatedin India & abroad would participate in over 25 Sports Events includingHockey, Cricket, Football, Tennis, Swimming, Squash amongst others inrespective campuses. The faculty and staff members also participate in varioussports events including shooting, archery, racing, chess etc. during Sangathan.
Theinaugural ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ‘Sangathan Mashaal’ byDr. (Mrs.) Balvinder Shukla- Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh inthe presence of Directors/HoDs and senior officials of Amity.
TheMashaal was carried to various campuses of Amity from Sector-125 to Sector-44and Greater Noida by the students of various institutions.
Declaring“Sangathan 2017” open, Dr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University UttarPradesh said that there is no other University in the world that has such ahuge gathering of motivated students and faculty members as Amity. He commendedthe commitment of HOIs, Faculty Members and staff of Amity who are dedicatedtowards a common vision to provide best experience to students. Dr. Chauhan opinedthat participation in sports activities are very important since everycompetition teaches valuable lessons that help the person to achieve success inboth personal as well as professional lives.
Thesight of ceremonial release of pigeons and balloons by Dr. Atul Chauhan, Mr.Ajay Chauhan, Trustee – RBEF, Mrs. Pooja Chauhan- Vice Chairperson, AmityHumanity Foundation, Mr. Ajit Chauhan Vice-Chairman, Amity Distance &Online Education, Mr. Abhay Chauhan, Mr. Anmol Chauhan, Maj.Gen K J Singh- ChiefAdvisor, Amity; Dr. Gurinder Singh, Group Vice Chancellor, Amity and Dr. (Mrs.)Balvinder Shukla - Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh was a treatto the eyes of everyone.
Dr.Atul Chauhan handed over the Sangathan Mashaal to the Sports Captains andwinners of last year’s Sangathan who finally lit the Sangathan flame.
Addressingthe gathering, Mr. Ajit Chauhan said that we are living in turbulenttimes with fierce competition everywhere so it is necessary for a person to becompetitive. He further stressed that the learning during college can transformthe life of a student and advised the students to make the most of this time bynot only focusing on academic performance but also on extra curricularactivities like sports. He pointed out that sports help to identify thestrengths and weaknesses of a person. Mr. Chauhan averred that an opportunitydoesn’t knock twice on the door; it only does once hence one must beprepared to embrace every opportunity.
Speakingon the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Kalpana Sharma, Chairperson OrganisingCommittee– Sangathan 2017 said that every year Sangathan is celebrated withgreat spirit since it brings all Amitians together with an aim to develop abond of unity and foster the spirit of sportsmanship and other virtuesassociated with it. She further briefed about the genesis of Sanagthan. Dr.Sharma apprised that Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group has avision of providing holistic groomingto every student by fostering competitivespirit and sportsmanship since both physical and mental well being areprerequisites for achieving success in a person’s life.
SportsCaptains from various Institutions took Oath to participate in Sangathan withhonesty, sportsmanship and team spirit.
Theinauguration was followed by a friendly Football Match played between studentsof Amity School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences v/s Amity School ofEngineering and Technology .
