Amity joins hand with Global Health Private Limited (GHPL) for accelerating research initiatives in the areas of Cardio Disorders, Cancer Biology, Mind –Body Medicine and Public Health
Amity signeda MoU with Global Health Private Limited (GHPL) for mutual exchange ofexpertise, knowledge and resources in the area of Health Care, Nutrition andLife Sciences during a ceremony at Medanta Hospital, Gurgaon.
GHPL owns and operates a medical health institution,located at Sector 38, Gurgaon, Haryana – 122001, India, under the brand name ‘Medanta-The Medicity’
The MoU wassigned by Dr. Naresh Trehan -Chairman & Managing Director, Medanta- The Medicity and Dr. W Selvamurthy- President, Amity Science, Technology andInnovation Foundation, Amity University.
The MoU aims atproviding opportunities for Faculty, Scientist, Staff and students to makeoptimal use of the expertise and facilities available in both the organizationsthrough collaborative research, trainings and exchange of thoughts during brainstorming sessions/Seminars/Workshops and Meetings.
Sharing hisviews during the momentous occasion, Dr. Naresh Trehan -Chairman &Managing Director, Medanta - The Medicity expressed his conviction fora productive collaboration with Amity. He stressed that Amity has a reservoirof knowledge in terms of Scientists which along with Medanta can be leveragedthrough the application of that knowledge into healthcare. He averred that thefuture of healthcare is in Robotic medicines and treatments as it has beennoted that 60% of patients don’t require being touched. He shared that India isknown for its medicinal advancements from ancient times and India has thepotential to discover a line of medicine which can sync mind and body,heralding a great revolution in the world. He stressed that the need of thehour is to focus upon identifying the reasons leading to deadly diseases ratherthan their cure at later stages and research initiatives need to be acceleratedand focused in the same direction. Dr. Trehan expressed that this collaborationwill also lead India to bring leadership position in niche areas of biomedicalresearch.
Addressing thegathering, Dr. W Selvamurthy- President, Amity Science, Technology andInnovation Foundation, Amity University stated that the MoU hasbrought together two Institutions which are trendsetters in their respectivedomains. He stressed that Amity and Medanta share a common mission ofprogressive research and the association will bring revolutionary outcomes interms of new medical devices, medicines etc. He suggested that clinic researchcan be given as a topic of thesis to PhD students of Amity which would enrichthe quality of research. He shared that Amity has focused its research onvarious serious diseases such as Cancer to reach out to people .Dr. Selvamurthycommended the holistic healthcare approach of Medanta which involves mind andbody both and stressed that Medanta has a blend of modern and traditionalhealthcare which will bring revolution in future.
Highlighting thekey research areas of MoU, Dr. Selvamurthy stated thatMoU will focus on the scope of Biomedical Research in terms ofheart failure, Cancer Biology leading to new medicines whichwill be cost effective, Low Cost Medical Devices includingimaging modalities, Mind –Body medicine for integratedhealthcare and Public health initiatives including DenguePrevention, elimination of TB etc. As per the MoU, there will be joint workinggroups which will monitor the collaborative areas for constant progress. Dr.Selvamurthy mentioned that the collaboration will focus in creatingdisruptive technology, new protocols for medical management of heart failure,early detection & intervention for heart disorders, cancer and other publichealth related issues.
