18th Inter Amity Institutions Sports Meet “ Sangathan 2016” commences at Amity
To ensure healthy mind and physical fitness of the students and to celebrate Founder’s Day, Amity University started 18th Inter Amity Institutions Sports Meet “ Sangathan 2016” at University Campus, Sector-125, Noida.
Every year, the birthday of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group is celebrated through month long Sports Meet which culminates on his birthday with the felicitation of the winners of various Sports Events.
During the two month long sports saga, over 5, 000 students from institutions of all Amity campuses located across India and abroad will zealously participate in more than 20 sports activities including Hockey, Cricket, Football, Tennis,Swimming, Squash along with the Vintage Games, vying for the coveted glistening Sangathan Trophy . The faculty and staff members also participate in various sports events including shooting, archery, racing, chess etc during Sangathan.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with the lighting of the “Sangathan Mashaal” by Dr. (Mrs.) Balvinder Shukla- Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh in the presence of Directors/HoIs and senior officials of Amity.The Mashaal was carried to various campuses of Amity from Sector-125 toSector-44 and Greater Noida by the students of various institutions.
Declaring “Sangathan 2016” open, Dr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said that there is no other University in the world that has such a great gathering of motivated students and faculty members as Amity. He commended the commitment and loyalty of HOIs, Faculty Members and staff of Amity and mentioned that Amity is proud to have them as part of family who are dedicated towards a common vision to provide best experience to students. Dr. Chauhan announced that during the two month long Sangathan, Indian Olympians who participated in Rio Olympics 2016 would be visiting thecampus to interact and mentor the students.
The sight of ceremonial release of pigeons and balloons by Mr. Atul Chauhan, Ms. Pooja Chauhan- Vice Chairperson, Amity Humanity Foundation, ,Mr. Ajit Chauhan Vice-Chairman, Amity Distance & Online Education, Maj.Gen K J Singh- Chief Advisor, Amity; Dr. Gurinder Singh, Group Vice Chancellor, Amity and Dr. (Mrs.) Balvinder Shukla - Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh was a treat to the eyes of everyone.
Dr. Atul Chauhan handed over the Sangathan Mashaal to the Sports Captains of Amity Law School, Noida, the winners of last Sangathan who lit the Sangathan flame.
The Sangathan flame was simultaneously lit up in all the Campuses of Amity in India and abroad bringing forth a perfect picture of unity in diversity.
Sharing his views, Mr. Ajit Chauhan Vice-Chairman, Amity Distance& Online Education lauded the hard work of Indian sportspersons during Rio Olympics 2016 and appreciated the women power that brought laurels to the country. He encouraged the students of Amity to take inspiration from the Rio Olympic participants for their dedication and persistence who performed with utmost zeal by beating all odds. He stressed that in life, an individual has to face hurdles at various points but Amity has trained its students to be champion in every field and cross the obstacles with ease.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Kalpana Sharma, Chairperson Organising Committee– Sangathan 2016 said that every year Sangathan has been celebrated with great spirit and excitement since it brings all Amitians together with an aim to develop a bond of unity amongst all and foster the spirit of sportsmanship and other virtues associated with it. She mentioned that it isthe vision of our Respected Founder President Sir, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan to foster competitive spirit and sportsmanship amongst all the students as part of holistic grooming since both physical and mental well being are the prerequisites of great achievements in a person’s life.
Sports Captains from various Institutions took Oath to participate in Sangathan with honesty, sportsmanship and team spirit.
The inauguration was followed by a friendly Table Tennis match played between management and students of Amity.
