(EPIL) shared that it is very important for Civil Engineers to understand the new concepts, technologies and trends in current time, along with being aware of the issues existing in the domain He remarked that with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister to develop 100 Smart Cities, which entails upon the Civil Engineers to ensure the fulfillment of the vision and design smart transportation, smart cities with 24 hours electricity and water supply. He expressed his hope that the Seminar will go a long way in addressing the issues related to trends and recent advances in Civil Engineering.
Mr. Arvind Arora- Director, Indian Defence Service of Engineers (IDSE),while sharing his views, stressed that last year was very eventful for the Civil Engineers withthe concept of Smart Cities and Swatch Bharat Abhiyaan, being announced by the Government. He stressed that innovation and logic implementation is very important in the field of Civil Engineering and educational Institutions have to ignite the minds of young students to innovate and go beyond the boundaries
During the inauguration, Mr. Mahendra Raj, MD,Mahendra Raj Consultant Pvt. Ltd. was honored with the Life Time Achievement Award.
Giving the acceptance speech, Mr. Mahendra Raj said that the Conference is very appropriately times since the Civil Engineering Profession is going through ups and down. With the growth of IT and industrialization, the profession suffered a low; some Institutions teaching Civil engineering were also shut down. He stated that fortunately, the bad time for the discipline seem to be over; the popularity and demand for Civil Engineers have gone up with the development of Housing Projects, Smart Cities, Super- corridors etc. He lamented the fact that, despite the growing demand, salary scales in Civil Engineering have not yet grown as compared to some other professions.
Mr. Raj donated a book titled “The Structures” to the Library of Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET)
