Valediction Ceremony of International Conference on New Insights & Multidisciplinary Approaches In Toxicological Studies

AmityInstitute of Environmental Toxicology, Safety and Management (AIETSM) organizedthree day International Conference on ‘New Insights & MultidisciplinaryApproaches In Toxicological Studies’ at Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Sec.125 Noida Campus.

 

TheInternational Conference was a part of 36th Annual Conference of Society ofToxicology (India) 2016 which saw a congregation of theToxicologists, Pharmacologists, Pathologists, Environmental andOccupational-health Scientists from academia, Industry, Governmentorganizations and Regulatory Agencies across globe.

 

Suchannual meetings of Society are conducted to provide a platform to allprofessionals for interaction and exchange of scientific developments therebyidentifying emerging and frontier areas of toxicology research in India and inglobal prospective.

 

TheValedictory Ceremony of three day International Conference witnessed thepresence of eminent personalities including; Dr. Satish K. Garg,President-STOX; Dr. Jagadeesh Sanganal, Secretary General at Society ofToxicology (India); Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group; Prof.(Dr.) Tanu Jindal, Director, AIETSM and Prof. R. K. Singh, Head, Division ofToxicology, CSIR- Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow

 

Addressingthe gathering, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan said that during the conferencedeliberations were made on important issues on toxicology and its harmfuleffects. He mentioned that the recommendations made during the sessions wouldhelp improving education and research in toxicology sector. Dr. Chauhan averredthat there is a need of conducting more conferences in private-governmentcollaboration for better dissemination of knowledge in the relevant area.

 

Sharinghis views, Dr. Satish K. Garg said that there is a need forgovernment and private collaboration for a symbiotic relationship that willhelp in enhancing the research. He stressed that it is important to have moregovernment laboratories at various regions so that educations institutions canalso utilize the facilities can collaborate for research work . Dr. Garghighlighted that there is no dearth of talent in our country but commitment andresources act as a drawback. He further added that Prime Minister of India’sinitiative of Skill Development is need of the hour for it will provide globalacceptance to our workforce. He opined that the time has come that we revisethe teaching methodologies as per industry requirements so that buddingprofessionals find better jobs and help the mankind at large.

 

Duringthe ceremony, Dr. Jagadeesh Sanganal commended Amity fororganizing the conference on a very important topic which required seriousdeliberations. He called upon the students to utilize the laboratory facilitiesof Society of Toxicology and suggested potential areas of collaboration betweenthe two organizations through joint seminars, conferences and trainingprogrammes. He averred that it is important to have private-governmentassociation to enhance the resources, human capital and problem solvingcapabilities.

 

Presentinga brief on significant outcomes of the Conference, Dr R K Singh saidthat during the three day International Conferences various issues pertainingto toxicological studies were discussed including Food Safety assessments;pharmacology and safety of medical devices assessments; occupational toxicologyreproductive and productive toxicity; safety testing of nano-materials,nanoparticles and nano medicines among others. He stressed that thedeliberations made during the conference pointed out interdisciplinary andmultidisciplinary approaches for enhancing the quality of toxicological studiesglobally. Highlighting Environmental issues, Dr. Singh suggested thatenvironmental impact assessment and advance technologies to curb eco-toxicologyare necessary and due focus should be given to them.

 

Duringthe valedictory session, awards were given for categories “Poster Making”, BestPaper” and Certificate of Appreciation.

 

Prof.(Dr.) Tanu Jindal, Director, AIETSM presented the vote ofthanks.

P. Singh, Distinguished Scientist& Chair Professor for Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, AINT, AmityUniversity on Regulatory Science Research and Innovation for toxiceffects of Nano particles in Health care” and Mohd Salim Reshi, UNESCO-Trace Element Satellite Center, School of Studies in Zoology, JiwajiUniversity, Gwalior on “Ameliorative Effect against Acetaminophen InducedHepatic Injury by the Treatment of Gold Nanoparticles in Rats” amongst others.
