Amity Institute of Telecom Engineering and Management conducted Orientation Programme for freshers

Keepingin view, the market dynamics, fast changing technologies & opportunitiesfor fresh graduates in the Telecom Sector, Amity Institute of TelecomEngineering and Management (AITEM) conducted Orientation on the topic “Growth in Telecom and Opportunities forFreshers” for new entrants and final year students of B.Tech – E&T ,M.Tech – TSE & OEOC and MBA - Telecom students atUniversity Campus, Sector 125 Noida.

Four Senior Professionals from Industry wereinvited to present their views.

The session started by welcoming the panelistsby Prof. R K Kapur, Deputy Director & Head AITEM.

Mr .Sanjay David ,COO (UP-East),Idea Cellular Ltd, stated that 50% of ruralIndia is still uncovered by mobile, hence, offers excellent growth potential inrural areas. He also mentioned that rural areas are fast catching with urbanareas in terms of Data usage. He also stated that Data traffic is growingexponentially and is likely to grow 13 times from the figure in 2014-15 during thenext five years whereas globally, it is expected to grow 10 times. He alsostated that Digital India, Smart City,Digital wallets, Data Network Security and Data Revolution involves inclusivegrowth and greater opportunities for people associated with the sector. Heemphasized that in future, multitasking will be the key to the success.

  Mr. Ashok Mehra, Global HeadBusiness Processes & Change Management, TCS supported views of Mr. David on the growth of Telecom sector and gave numerousillustrations from his experience of working around the globe.  Hementioned Data Analytics and Data Scientists as major skill sets which will berequired by the budding professionals. He stressed that industry needs teammanagement and multitasking professionals.

 Mr. Brij Mahendru, Co-Founder & Director mCarbon stated that opportunities in Telecomsector are due to Powerful & Data applications, hungry customers, MobileBroadband, Supporting Governance and Entrepreneurships. He shared that Telecom networks are now designed keeping in view customers’requirements. Customers are hungry for Data centric applications which needhigh speed broadband. Government flagship programs of Digital India, Broadband For All, Make In India for e-governance ,e-health, e-commerce etc will also open opportunities for Entrepreneurship.He further added Telecommunications is one of the prime support services neededfor rapid growth and modernization of various sectors of the economy.

Mr .Vikas Songara, HeadHR, Telecom Business, Sterlite Technologies, emphasizedthat educational institutes should encourage students for research andinnovation to gain competence in the industry. He stressed that the TelecomIndustry, after two to three years of lean period, is now on growth path. Heremarked Students are faced with lot of challenges and opportunities, for whichthey have to be prepared.
