Spectacular Performance by Indian Army Band at Amity University

Patriotic fervor amongst students and faculty reached crescendo during the Performance by Indian Army Band at Amity University

 

As per the desire of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, the bands of Navy,Army and Air Force have been performing in different locations of the country with an aim to connect the Armed forces with the masses and to motivate the youth to join the Forces, which are currently facing manpower crunch of nearly 20% in each of its three wings.

To begin with this patriotic fervor, the “Pipes and Drums Band” from 27 MADRAS REGIMENT, 9 GARHWAL REGIMENT and 3/5 GORKHA RIFLES performed musical tunes which left students completely enrapt and dazed. The occasion provided students a unique opportunity to listen to Marshal Tunes and music of unique dimensions. The Band won wide acclaim for their musical virtuoso, well synchronized moves, swiftness and agility.

Welcoming the distinguished guests, Lt.Gen. B. K. Bopanna- Director General, Amity Indian Military Education Society briefed the audience that in a run up to the Independence Day 2015 , Defence Forces are reaching out to the youth and masses across the length and breadth of the country-in public places and educational Institutions. He stressed that Infantry Arm of Indian Army is not only known for its courage, valor and sacrifice but also providing peace and solace to the soldiers in war through their music. He thanked Indian Army for providing golden opportunity to the students of Amity to see an interesting facet of Indian Army.

Maj. Pranav Upadhayay from 27 Madras Regiment briefed the students that the Pipe Band started from Scotland in 17th Century and the infantry soldiers that performed during the occasion are adept in music as well as providing medical assistance to the soldiers in the time of need. He shared that Defence Forces have been actively pursuing the outreach programme conceived by Hon’ble Prime Minister in order to bring youth closer to the valor associated with Forces, thereby encouraging them to join the Forces.

Also present during the event were Major Srijith Menon from 27 Madras Regiment, Maj Gen.(Retd.) K J Singh- Group Vice Chancellor, Amity Universities; Brig.S K Bahl- Director, Amity Institute of Military College and other senior Directors and Institutional Heads.
