Amity International School, Gurgaon Sector 43 wins GEOMATY 2015- Social Science Festival

The vibrant festival of social science, Geomaty 2015, was celebrated at Amity International School, Noida with great joy and enthusiasm.The theme of the mega event revolved around Regional Geography and History of Asia and the cultural heritage of our state Chhattisgarh and presenting the best of the theme, Amity International School, Sector 43 Gurgaon raised the overall winner’s trophy.

 

Geomaty is aimed at kindling the interest of students in Geography and History -the physical and cultural diversity of Asia- its landand people , developing skills in map reading and interpretation and displaying creative skills of  young students through dramatization,dance, web-designing, face-painting ,cuisine , poster making etc.

 

More than 35 prestigious schools of Delhi NCR participated in the extravaganza including Cambridge, Ryan International, Presidium, DPS, Bal Bharti, Tagore International School. Modern School, Khaitan School and Amity International Schools amongst others.

 

The event was inaugurated by Chairperson, Amity International Schools, Dr (Mrs). Amita Chauhan, who believe that art and culture are thevery heart of any society,

 

During Geomaty 2015 various aspects of social science were incorporated where competitions were divided into eight categories, according to the levels. Folk Dance- festival of the Asian country was the competition for classes IV and V, Poster making and Dance Drama for classes VI and VII on the topic –Monumental Heritage of the Asian country and depiction of a story associated with the festival of an Asian country.

 

To bring forth the vibrancy and colour of the rare and rich cultural heritage of Asia, Face Painting and Cuisines competitions were also conducted for classes VIII.  The Geomaty activities also included knowledge based testing in the form of Quiz/ Map reading and Interpretation and Web Designing for class IX-X. While for class XI-XII, a challenging extempore competition based on the topic “ The Globalisation of Asia” was organized.

                         

The exciting and remarkable competitions were judged by professional Chefs and Professors such as Mr. Deepak Verma, Mr. Avinash Anand, Mr Sanjay Bhatnagar and Ms Shailly Sharma Bhatnagar. Experts from the field of Social science included Mr. Sudhanshu Sinha, evaluation and regional performance manager, South Asia, British High Commission. Also Mr Vinod Goswami and Mr Kosal Kumar, eminent artists and Mr Raj Upadhyaya, a noted media person also a governing council board member for the Ministry of Art and Culture, Children Academy, New Delhi.

 

An ecstatic carnival of music and dance was staged by the students of the choir and dance group of Amity Noida. A Chhattisgarhi folksong, a glorious dance as well as a street play depicting the festivities of the region were the star attractions of this event.
