Japanese Delegation led by His Excellency Koji Omi, Founder and Chairman STS Forum, Japan, visits Amity
A Japanese delegation led by His Excellency Koji Omi, Founder and Chairman STS Forum, Japan visited Amity University Noida Campus on 25th March,2015.
Mr. Koji Omi is a key political figure in the field of Science and Technology in Japan. One of his achievements included the central role he played in enacting the Fundamental Law of Science and Technology in 1995. This law contributed greatly toward making Japan a Science and Technology-oriented nation. He also founded the Science and Technology in Society (STS) Forum with the aim of building a worldwide network amongst Scientists, Policy makers and business people.
The Delegation included Mr. Shuichi Fukuda and Mr. Kohei Takahashi from STS Forum; Mr. Shuichi Higuchi, First Secretary of the Japanese Embassy and Mr. Naoyoshi Noguchi, Chief Director General JETRO INDIA.
His Excellency Koji Omi and the members visited the exhibition of military weapons and equipment organized in the campus and appreciated the efforts put forth by the University. The visit was followed by a presentation on Amity Science,Technology and Innovation Foundation and interaction amongst the members from both sides. His Excellency Koji Omi extended an invitation to Amity University to become the member of the STS Forum.
Science and Technology in Society (STS) Forum founded by His Excellency Koji Omi aims at providing platform to build and develop a human network that would, in time,resolve the new types of problems stemming from the application of Science and Technology including issues related to ethical, safety and environmental matters which have become matter of concern worldwide owing to the use of Science & Technology for destructive purpose. The Forum community also explores the opportunities arising from Science and Technology, and address how to remove the barriers for using Science and Technology to solve the problems faced by human.
