Amity University signs MoU with VU University, Amsterdam

It was a memorable day for Amity University, Uttar Pradesh when Prof. Jaap Winter,President – VU University visited the Campus and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Amity University to foster and strengthen the mutual relationship and facilitate the exchange of expertise leading to academic development of the students and faculty of both the Universities.


Prof. Jaap Winter, President – VU University was accompanied by Prof. Hubertus Irth-Director Science Faculty; Prof. Freek Ariese – Associate Professor Physics, Laserlab; Prof. Joske Bunders – Professor, Global Health, Athena Institute;Prof  Barbara Regeer - Professor, Global Health, Athena Institute; Prof Hans Akkermans Professor  – Smart cities, Network institute,Computer; Prof Jaap Heringa Professor  - Bioinformatics & Systems Biology; Prof Peter van de Hoorn – Professor of Science Business & Innovation; Prof Sanjai Bhulai – Professor of Mathematics, Business Analytics; Prof Chris Mulder - Medical Oncology, GI cancer Expert; Prof Hari Sharma -Pathology (VUMC), Cardio Pulmonary Angiogenesis and Vascular expert


Prof. Jaap Winter, President – VU University and delegation members were welcomed by Prof (Dr.) Gurinder Singh, Amity Group Additional Vice Chancellor; Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor – Amity University; Dr W. Selvamurthy, President, ASTIF along with Directors and Institutional Heads of Amity University



The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Prof (Dr.) Gurinder Singh, Amity Group Additional Vice Chancellor and Prof. Jaap Winter, President – VU University.


The MoU will facilitate joint Research programmes, Seminars, Workshops and Trainings in the area of Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Nanotechnology, Engineering, Management and Law along with Exchange of Academic information, Faculty members, students and study programs. It will include training of and visits by faculty members of both the Universities, Internship programmes for the students and Faculty Development Programmes in the areas of mutual interests.



Expressing his gratitude and admiration of the association, Prof. Jaap Winter, President –VU University stressed that Amity University has proved its excellence worldwide. He briefed the audience that VU University, Amsterdam has been catering to the educational needs of the students of various nationalities and is dedicated to Research and Innovation. He expressed his hope that the association between both the Universities would be meaningful, providing a forum for building mutual relationship and friendship between both the countries.



Welcoming the alliance, Prof (Dr.) Gurinder Singh, Amity Group Additional Vice Chancellor said that the collaboration is going to be rewarding for both the universities since Amity University and VU University stand for unparallel excellence in respective areas. He outlined that Amity University stresses on the holistic development of the students; they are groomed to become competent professionals and good human beings. The endeavor is to make Amity students globally completely and sought after and the association between both the Universities would immensely benefit the students of both the countries and would apprise them with cross cultural work environment.
