Conference on “Corporate Governance and its Role in Minimizing the Isolation of Teacher Education” by Amity Institute of Education, New Delhi
Amity Institute of Education, New Delhi organized a two days Conference on the theme “Corporate Governance and its Role in Minimizing the Isolation of Teacher Education” on November 12-13, 2014 at Amity Campus, Saket.
Participants from eleven Universities and twenty- three colleges of NCR enriched themselves from the proceedings of the Conference including Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Indira Gandhi National Open University, Manav Rachna University, Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Maharishi Dayanand University, Lingaya’s University, Delhi University, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Jamia Millia Islamia University, K.R Mangalam University and Meerut University
Prof. K. K. Aggarwal, Chancellor,K.R. Mangalam University, Gurgaon and Engineer A. K. Srivastava, Member of Governing Board for Restructuring of Higher Education, Amity University Uttar Pradesh and Dr. Tushar K. Nath, Director, Legal Policy Research in Amity Group of Universities inaugurated the Conference.
After, the inaugural session, Dr. Ranjana Bhatia, Professor & Principal, Amity Institute of Education, New Delhi gave a presentation on theme of the conference and also highlighted the achievements of the institute.
During the day, two technical sessions unfolded-“Emerging Trends in Corporate Governance in Education” and “Approach ofCorporate in Good Governance of Teacher Education” wherein key speakers such as Prof. Pranati Panda, Prof,Department of School & Non-Formal Education, NUEPA, New Delhi, Ms. SusmitaPruthi, Design and Development Head, School Learning Solutions, NIIT Ltd, NewDelhi, Ms. Rupa Chakravarty, Principal, Suncity World School, Gurgaon, Dr. J.K. Goyal, Director, JIMS, Rohni , New Delhi, Dr. Renu Malaviya ,Associate Prof.Lady Irwin College ,Delhi University, Prof. Vikas Nath, ,Director and Dean(Academics) and Ms. Anjali Sharma, Assistant Professor, BVIMR, New Delhi, Ms.Arti Chopra, Principal, Amity International School, Sect. -46, Gurgaon and Dr.Anupama , Head Executive MBA, TND & Consultancy, Amity Business School,AUUP shared their views.
Prof. A. K. Sharma, Formerly Director, NCERT and Prof. Rajaram Sharma, Joint Director, CIET, NCERT chaired the technical sessions.
During the second day of the Conference, the participants were enlightened during the two technical sessions- “Role of Corporate Governance in meeting the Challenges being faced by the Teacher Education” and “Bringing Quality and Reforms in Teacher Education with the Involvement of Corporate Governance” by erudite speakers including Ms. Meera Balachandran, Director, Education Quality Foundation of India, New Delhi, Dr. Y. Sreekant, Associate Professor, NCERT, New Delhi, Dr. Suman Sachdeva, Technical Director-Education, Care India, N.D., Ms. Geeta Varshneya, Education Director, Khaitan Public School, Sahidabad, UP, Dr. DasyamVenkateshwarlu, Professor of Education (Special Education), IGNOU, New Delhi,Dr. Shubhra Mangal, Principal, Chetram Sharma College of Education , Noida; 1.Prof Anita Rastogi , Head , Department of Educational Studies, Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi, Dr. Sujata Tripathi , Principal,Ramanujan College of Education, Palwal, Dr. Kiran Gupta,Assistant Prof., Manav Rachna University, Faridabad and Dr. Alka Muddgal, Officiating Head , AmityInstitute of Education, AUUP.
Dr. Renu Singh, Director, Young Lives, India and Prof C.B. Sharma, Coordinator, Ph. D Programme, School of Education, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi chaired the third and fourth session respectively.
The valedictory session started with the presentation from the four Rapporteurs who gave brief summary of the four technical sessions that were conducted during the conference.

Certificate of participation was given to all the participants.
The two day conference ended on a successful note. The theme of the conference gave a food for thought to all the participants. The interaction between the chairpersons, speakers and the participants was very useful.
