Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools honored with the “Outstanding Women Achievers” Award by Indian Council of Human Relations

A “Woman” is a Mother, a Sister, a Daughter, a Wife, a Friend it seems so difficult to perform all these roles at one time. Salute to the woman who has got such a great potential to perform all these roles remarkably. She displays a wonderful range of emotions from being patient to being extremely courageous in times of crisis.

To pay a tribute to such a divine personas, Indian Council of Human Relations with Russian Center of Science And Culture celebrated International Women’s Day to felicitate the ever dynamic women achievers for their efforts for the society.

Dr. Amita Chauhan, Chairperson- Amity International Schools was honored with the “Outstanding Women Achievers” Award. Ms. Veera Sharma, Editor, Amity Global Times received the award on her behalf. Other awardees for the event included Ms. Subha Rajan, Director- CII, Ms. Ashima Leena Singh- Fashion Designer, Ms. Dilshad Ahmed- Entrepreneur and Ms. Prerna Kaul Mishra-Deputy Editor, Economic times, Ms. Sonali Kochar, Social Worker, Dr. Aparna Jaswal, Cardiologist- Escorts, Ms. Rupal Sinha, Security Services, Dr. Ganga Dadu- Acupuncturist, Ms. Aditi Luthra -Entrepreneur.

We have suffered for centuries, unless man and woman who are the two main pillars of the society, moves together India will not progress”, said Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Minister New and Renewable energy and the Chief guest of the occasion. He also took into account the issue of the rising proportion of female feticide cases in the country and further said that, government should seriously look into such tragedies and the evil- doers including doctors and hospitals should be given severe punishment.

The guest of honor for the evening, H.E. Mr. Alexander M. Kadakin, Ambassador of Russian Federation, while dwelling on the relevance of the theme said, “had it not been the gigantic contribution from womenfolk, we would not have achieved even half of what we are today. They have the strongest and invisible impacts on our lives”. “Social equality should be maintained and much needs to be done in the arena of women’s development, he averred.

Moreover, Minister of State and External Affairs, Smt. Preneet Kaur talked about the most awaited gift for the day, which is being the consideration of the women’s reservation bill in the parliament. This 100th anniversary of National Women’s Day will go down in the history as a memorable event, she added.
