NBA Accreditation and Quality Management workshop at Amity
Amity School of Engineering & Technology (ASET) in collaboration with National Institute of Technical Teacher’s Training & Research started a 5 day workshop on the topic "NBA Accreditation and Quality Management" at Amity University campus, sector 125.
The objective of the workshop is to discuss the prevalent Accreditation practices and quality management in Indian institutions.
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.)P.S Grover, Ex- Director General, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University& Expert NBA, NAAC & DEC and Prof. (Dr.) Abhay Bansal, Joint Acting Head ASET.
Sharing his views on outcome based education, Prof.(Dr.) P.S. Grover said that Outcome-based Education Model (OBEM) has been one of the most important trends in education system as it supports the students in innovative, creative and results-oriented thinking. He mentioned that the model is a teaching paradigm on clarity of focus, expanded opportunity and high expectations which shifts the focus of schools from the content to the student by imbibing qualities like Reflection, Assessment, Interpretation,Presentation, Generation and Evaluation to make them creative. Prof. Grover opined that educational institutions should design their curriculum in a way which involves all the stakeholders including parents, students and teachers and the final aim should be to enrich the overall learning experience of the students. He emphasized that the education system should foster student learning as per their interest, hence, implementation of outcome- based education is necessary.
Addressing the audience through Video Conferencing, Dr.M.P. Poonia, Director, NITTTR Chandigarh said that every student is special and has his own style of creative thinking. She outlined that in order to nurture the hidden talent of a student, educational institutions shouldn’t unnecessary pressurize the students and must always try to make a balance and friendly environment for the students as Institutions are the facilitators of a student’s career. Stressing on the importance of Outcome- Based Education Model (OBEM),Dr. Poonia remarked that the model emphasizes on skill based education which is the foremost quality industry seeks in a professional rather than just high scores. He highlighted that through OBEM, students have a clear picture about their goals as to what they want to achieve.
During the five day workshop, eminent speakers will make deliberations on various topics including “Accreditation Process of NBA”by Dr. RKW, Professor and Head, Educational & Television Centre, NITTTR-Chandigarh) ; “Accreditation Visit & Reporting” by Dr BS Pabla (Prof. & Head, Info.Management & Co -ordination Dept.,NITTTR Chandigarh) and “Criteria 1 – Vision, Mission & PEOs” byDr. YK Anand (Professor,NITTTR-Chandigarh) amongst others.
