Over 90 International School students fromPakistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Dubai and Nepal hone their scientific skills in Amity during “4th Amity International Olympiad”
Over 90 International School Students from 5 countries along with 50 Indian School students competed in “4th Amity International Olympiad for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology” and over 150 school students from classes VI to XII across India participated in “17th Amity National Mathematics Workshop”organized by Amity Institute of Competitive Examination (AICE) and Amity Centre for Science Olympiads (ACSO), which concluded today at Amity Campus, Sector-125, Noida.
The students from DPS,R K Puram; Indraprastha International School, Dwarka; Ryan International School, Noida; Vishwa Bharti School, Noida ,all Amity International Schools spread across Delhi and NCR and other schools participated in the National Mathematics Workshop.
Amity National Mathematics Workshop, the first of its kind and very innovative concept, aims to groom Indian students to shine in National andInternational Mathematics Olympiads by exposing them to a perfect blend oftheory and hands- on practice by subject experts in a very congenialenvironment.
Amity International Olympiads are conducted with themission to foster stronger relationships among participating Nations and promote exchange of scientific skills and knowledge amongst the youth and creative minds across the world.
In International Olympiad for Biology, Gold Medals were awarded to Mohammad Naeim Haci Gh. Qader from Afghanistan; Prem Yadav from Nepal, Kaiyrbek Pazilbek from Kazakhstan and Bithika Patra from Bal Bharati Public School, Old Rajinder Nagar, India.
In International Olympiad for Mathematics, Gold Medals were given to Sayed Hasin Sadat from Afghanistan, Gawhar Shad Begum Baktash from Afghanistan, Mohammad Masih Jalal from Afghanistan, Zainab Quraishe from Dubai, Bekzat Akram from Kazakhstan, Sm Jauhar Altaf from Pakistan, Bishrut Kafle from Nepal and Manan Rai from Amity International School , Noida, Srijan Mukherjee and Meher Sainifrom Amity International School, Mayur Vihar.
In International Olympiad for Physics, Haroon Ghulam Ghaws from Afghanistan, Mohammad Arsalan from Afghanistan , Moldiyar Zhapbar from Kazakhstan, Amar Kumar Yadav from Nepal and Nilay Pande- Swami Ramkrishna Paramhansa Jr. College, Mumbai, India were felicitated with Gold Medals.
In Chemistry Olympiad, Gold Medals were given to Ahmad Iqbal Wardak from Afghanistan, Aakash Singh from Nepal and Siddhant Bhambri from Amity International School, Saket

Aslam- Vice Chancellor, IGNOU, Dr. Dinakar Kanjilal-Director, Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) Research Center of UGC,Dr. A Mukhopadhyay- Head, INSPIRE Programme and Scientist-G, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and Sh. D Rama Sarma- Director, National Science Centre, Ministry of Culture, Government of India; H E Mr. Shaida Mohammad Abdali -Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to India; H.E Mr. Deep Kumar Upadhyay- Ambassador of Nepal to India and H.E. Mr. Bulat Sarsenbayev – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to India graced the valediction ceremony.

Welcoming the august gathering, Ms. Meenakshi Rawal-Director,Amity Institute of Competitive Examination (AICE) presented a brief summary of the week long Workshop and Olympiad and highlighted various achievements and competitive examinations organized by AICE for young students in Science and Mathematics . She shared that both Workshop and Olympiad witnessed humungous participation by National and International students which included 62 students from Afghanistan, 8 students from Kazakhstan, 12 from Nepal, 4 from Pakistan and 2 from Dubai.
Addressing the gathering, Dr.(Mrs.) Amita Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity International Schools thanked all the parents for making a discreet choice of sending their children for the Workshop and Olympiad. She appreciated all the resources persons and teachers who mentored the students and shared that Amity initiates and conducts numerous events in the area of Science and Mathematics because every discipline derives from either Science or Mathematics; therefore it is imperative to kindle the curiosity and interest in the youth to pursue Science and Mathematics. She highlighted various achievements of Amity students in the arena of Science and Mathematics at National and International platforms including F1 Design Competition and NASA Space Settlement Design Competition.
Addressing the gathering Chief Guest Prof. A. Aslam- Vice Chancellor, IGNOU stressed that India has a lot of potential which needs to be recognized. “Education is just not the amount of information that is fed into a child’s brain but it is about what gets assimilated into a child’s brain. Teachers need to introspect and take adequate interest in the assimilation of knowledge into a child’s brain since a child spends more time in school than in home and listens more to his/her teacher than parents,” averred Prof. Aslam. He opined that Universities and Institutions of Higher Learning should re-mould their focus and aim at nurturing not just competent professionals but also good human beings.
Sharing his views, Dr. Rama Sarma- Director, National Science Centre, Ministry of Culture, Government of India congratulated all the students for their participation and appreciated them for coming away from their families and friends and deciding to learn not only various subjects but also different cultures, nationalities and cultural sensibilities. He stressed that at present, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) has become the buzzword globally with great impetus on “Innovation”. He appealed the students to think innovatively and nurture their own way of observing and absorbing new things surrounding them.
Dr. A Mukhopadhyay- Head, INSPIRE Programme and Scientist-G,Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India appreciated Amity for conceptualizing International Olympiad and National workshop for Mathematics,thereby providing a common platform for the youth of the country and world to share and exchange the innovative ideas and knowledge. He motivated the students to rejoice in the fact that they successfully participated in the Olympiad and Workshop rather than being disheartened or disappointed for not being able to win.
Sharing her experience, Ms. Wesna Aziz- one of the participants of International Olympiad from Afghanistan Girls High School thanked Amity for providing such a great learning opportunity which enriched her knowledge and gave her a lot of confidence. She expressed her deep gratitude to her parents and schools for reposing trust in her abilities and sending her outside Afghanistan to learn new things and participate in International Olympiad.
