Oriental Insurance Co. wins Amity Insurance Cricket Tournament with 30 runs
The exciting 13th Amity Insurance Cricket Tournament organized by Amity Institute of Insurance Banking and Actuarial Sciences ended today at Amity Campus, Noida. The finals were played between Star Health Insurance and Oriental Insurance Co.with Oriental Insurance Co. emerging as the winner with 30 runs edge over Star Health Insurance.
Oriental Insurance Co won the toss and elected to bat first, wherein they scored 134 runs.
Chasing the modest score, the opener of Star Health Insurance Team, Viraj scored 18 runs, while Amarjeet and Ravi added 22 runs and 21 runs respectively to the score board. A quick fire knock of 5 wickets by Sanjay Jain enabled Oriental Insurance Co. team to beat Star Health Insurance with 30 runs and lifts the cup of the 13th tournament. The last few minutes of the final match was filled with lots of excitement.
Amity School Of Insurance, Banking and Actuarial Science has been successfully organizing Amity Insurance Cricket Cup Tournament every year to support the under privileged girl children enrolled under philanthropic project “Amitasha”of Amity Humanity Foundation.. 16 teams from Insurance & Banking Sector participated in the Cricket Tournament.
Congratulating the winning team, Mr. P K Soni, Member, Delhi & District Cricket Association said that contributing towards a noble cause reflects the good values of a person.He added that such events help to foster a bond among the industry and gives boost to companies for associating themselves with community issues. Mr. Soni commended Amity for successfully organizing Amity Insurance Cricket Tournament every year for supporting the girl education.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. R.R. Grover, Advisor, Amity School of Insurance,Banking & Actuarial Sciences (ASIBAS) said that in order to bring the insurance companies on a common platform and to develop a sense of solidarity, Amity has been organizing the cricket tournament annually. Prof.Grover congratulated the winning team and stressed that participation matters most than winning the tournament. He added that Amity has always encouraged the feeling of sportsmanship amongst the students.
During the prize distribution ceremony, Sanjay Singh from Oriental Insurance Co. was declared as the Man of the Match.
During the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Gurinder Singh,Additional Group Vice Chancellor, Senior Officials , HOIs and students of Amity University were present to cheer the teams.
