Special lecture by Dr. P.K Gupta, Specialty Strategy Theatre Lead, Asia Pacific and Japan, EMC Corporation at Amity

EMC Club and Amity ACM Student Chapter of Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Amity School of Engineering & Technology (ASET), Amity University organized a Special Lecture by Dr. P.K Gupta-Specialty Strategy Theatre Lead, Asia Pacific and Japan, EMC Corporation on “Digital Transformation in the age of Cloud, Big Data, Mobile and Social” at Amity Campus, Sector-125, Noida

 

Dr. P.K Gupta has 30 years of experience in the IT industry. AtEMC Corporation, P.K Gupta is responsible for strategy and operations. He has been with EMC since May 1997, earlier roles being Director, Product Marketing, Product Management and Director of Engineering. 

 

Dr K.M Soni, Deputy Director, ASET, Amity University welcomed Dr. P.K Gupta in the presence of Dr. Abhay Bansal, Director, DICET and HoD, Computer Science Engineering, ASET, Amity University, Noida.


Dr. P.K Gupta delivered an interesting lecture on the Digital Transformation in present age. He described how technology has taken over all facets of life, in the from of clouds and big data. From small scale enterprises and companies, current technology has reached far beyond with huge amounts of data being generated. Companies like Snap chat etc are now valued at the exorbitant amount of 10 billion dollars.

 

He stressed about the kind of skills that are in demand in the industry mentioning that moving over java and C and C++, employers are looking for candidates with experience in working with Hadoop or with good basics in networking and operating systems. He also spoke about the fact that development has moved into Agile Methodology today. Most companies now look for compact and fast working skills.
