Dr. Peter Ricketts from Carleton University, Canada visits Amity University to strengthen the Bilateral Interest for collaboration

Dr. Peter Ricketts, Vice President –Academic & Provost, Carleton University, Canada visited Amity UniversitySector 125 Campus, Noida to discuss the areas of mutual collaborations inAcademic and Research Initiatives. He was welcomed by Dr. Gurinder Singh, Addl.Group Pro Vice Chancellor – Amity; Dr. W Selvamurthy, President- Amity ScienceTechnology and Innovation Foundation and Senior Officials of Amity University.

While briefingabout Amity University, Dr. WSelvemurthy said that Amity is reckoned as a research and innovation drivenInstitution. He further added that in Amity, the curriculum is designed to meetthe Industry standard and provides research integrated teaching to thestudents. Dr. Selvamurthy also mentioned that Amity has filed more than 500patents and is now working towards translating the patents into commercialproducts.  During the discussion, Dr.Selvamurthy proposed collaboration in the area of Joint Research, Science andTechnology.

Addressing thegathering, Dr. Peter Ricketts saidthat the Carleton and Amity share similar philosophy which is to engagestudents and academicians for global education. Informing about the launch of anew programme on Global and International studies by Carleton University, Dr.Ricketts added that the course is intended for students who want to learn moreabout, and engage constructively with this world and emphasized that the newprogramme will allow students to pursue a wide range of career options relatedto global and international studies.

During thediscussion, further areas of potential alliance were discussed includingarticulation programs, guidance of PHDs in Management, Engineering, Journalismand Science & technology, dissertations and internships and Indo-CanadianImmersion Programs.

Dr. Peter Ricketts was taken for a round ofcampus, during which he was left impressed with the infrastructure of Amity andapplauded Amity Innovation Incubator.
