At least fifty percent of these unfortunate people can be saved ifproper first aid is provided timely. Gen. If thetongue of the victim is rolled inside the mouth then the chin of the victim needsto be raised to allow free passage of air. One needs to put his ears on thechest of the victim to check whether the victim is breathing properly or not.If he is not breathing, then the victim needs to be given CPR i.e. mouth tomouth breathing twice, followed by pressure on the heart for consecutive 30times. This process needs to continue till proper medical care reaches thevictim and also if the injured person is bleeding profusely then the externalbleeding of the victim should be stopped earliest as loss of excess of blood isanother common reason for deaths, he added.

Sharma said that the first priority of theFirst Aider is to be aware about the human structure and mechanism. This willhelp them in assisting better. If there are fractures then that portion of thebody should be immobilized as the skeletal system of human body is verysensitive. The victim should not be given any food and drink immediately afterthe accident. It is advisable that one wears gloves while helping the patientwho is profusely bleeding and equally important it is to give moral support tothe patient and prevent him from panicking.
