Amity School of Engineering & Technology organises International Conference on Signal Processing and Integrated Networks (SPIN 2014)

The first International Conference on Signal Processing and Integrated Networks (SPIN 2014) was organised by Amity School of Engineering & Technology with collaboration of IEEE UP Section from February 20-21, 2014 at Amity University Campus, Sector-125 Noida.

SPIN 2014 was aimed to bring together scientists, academicians and industrialists working in the field of Signal Processing and Integrated Networks to discuss new ideas and promote research work. The conference had a very high quality technical programme consisting of 170 contributory papers and 9 invited talks. Overall this conference had 30 sessions and all the sessions were very nicely managed by expert session chairs. Five parallel sessions were run for the contributed papers. The sessions were highly interactive and thoughtful. There was huge participation of students from the organizing Institution as well as many other institutions. In addition to the regular sessions, three special sessions were also organized and conducted by research groups from IIT Indore, IIITM Gwalior, IIIT Bhubaneswar, BITS Mesra and Gauhati University.  There were sessions on Image Processing, Communication, Signal Processing, VLSI in Signal Processing and Communication, Networking & Security, Special Session on Knowledge Aided System Design, Special Session : Adaptive and Innovative Systems Design and Applications in Signal, Image and Speech Processing,  Special Session on Biometric based Security, Video Processing, Biomedical Signal Processing, embedded system & Signal Processing, Antenna, Robotics & Signal Processing Wireless Sensor Networks etc.

 

The invited talks were delivered by researchers throughout the world from countries like Germany, UK, USA, Sweden, Japan, Korea, Australia etc. Prof. Karlheinz Brandenburg, Fraunhofer-Institut Digitale Medientechnologie Ehrenbergstr, Germany, who happens to be co-inventor of MP3 format and a very famous researcher of audio engineering, delivered the first Keynote address. The conference had attracted papers from many countries like USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Japan, Australia, South Africa, Taiwan, Korea, China, Czech Republic, Turkey, Bangladesh, Spain, Oman etc. SPIN 2014 had also attracted papers from top Indian national organizations like IITs, IIITs, NITs, BITS, IT-BHU, Central Universities, DRDO Research labs, ISRO Research Labs, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Bhaba Atomic Research Centre etc.

The inaugural session of the conference was held on the first day of the conference which was attended by the Top Professionals from Bharti Airtel Ltd. & Ericsson India Pvt Ltd. They had addressed the gathering about what how the Industry requirement and futuristic insights on the theme of the conference. The conference chair Prof. M.K.Dutta had a small talk on the theme of the conference and a small report on it. Prof. B.Shukla, Vice Chancellor of Amity University, Prof. Ravi Prakash, Director of Engineering, & Dy. Director of Engineering Prof. K.M. Soni were present and had provided their views in the theme of the conference. A small talk by the Chief Guest of the session Prof. Karlheinz Brandenburg about his experience was very interesting and motivating.

 

The feedback from the participants, authors, session chairs, invited speakers were very nice and they all had appreciated the conference. The student participation was a marked feature in this conference which saw all the venues flooded with students. The conference was concluded with a small valedictory function on 21 February 2014. The conference organizers had organized a complementary trip to Agra for visit of the Taj Mahal and Agra Red Fort for all the Foreign Invited speakers and delegates of this conference on 22nd Feb 2014.


This conference was Technically Co-Sponsored by IEEE UP Section. Secretary of this Section Dr. Nischal Kr. Verma and Joint Secretary Dr. Dilip Kumar Sharma had attended the event and both of them also had chaired one of the technical sessions.
