Amity Institute of Education(AIE), Amity University organized National Seminar on “Internationalization of Teacher Education and Quality Assurance : Trends and Challenges” on 31 0ct,2013 at Amity University Campus, Sector- 125, UP with an objective to provide a stimulating forum to Teacher Educators and Researchers to discuss and deliberate upon important research and advancements in the field of Internationalization of Teacher Education.
Guest of Honour Prof. Yagnamurthy Sreekanth , Educational Survey Division, NCERT, and Chief guest Mrs. Anita Satia Director, SCERT, New Delhi , Dr. Ranjana Bhatia, Mentor, AIE, Dr. Manorama Khanna , Advisor AIE, Dr. Alka Muddgal, Head, Amity Institute of Education inaugurated the Seminar by lighting the lamp.
Welcoming the distinguished gathering, Dr. Alka Muddgal Head, Amity Institute of Education said that Internationalization of Teacher Education is the need of the day in the global world. She emphasized on taking on the challenge of coming up with competent teacher educators well equipped to teach teachers and future global citizens. She also emphasized the need for collaboration and open mindset to facilitate internationalization of Teacher Education and education.
Prof. (Dr.) Ranjana Bhatia, Mentor, AIE, AUUP emphasized on importance of Internationalization and improving the Quality of Teacher Education in India. For the same she stressed on bringing about changes in the curriculum and pedagogy.
Mrs. Anita Setia, Director, SCERT New Delhi expressed her views that teaching is one of the most noble profession. In the era of Globalization, e-learning has revolutionized learning in a big way but in no way it can replace the role of the teacher. Teacher is the magic power in the universe of education. A Global teacher should create a culture of thinking, critical analysis and unrestrained flow of ideas.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Y. Sreekanth, NCERT emphasised on the importance of learning. He focussed on evidence based teaching. He assured that the National Seminar would bring out concrete results, forging mutually benefitting alliances and researches by imbibing co-practices of learning, Hyper-media approach and forming discourse communities.
Number of sessions on contemporary and interdisciplinary issues unfolded during the day including participation from over 10 universities representing various parts of India. In all there were around 50 presentations with parallel sessions chaired by Prof.(Dr.) Kalpana Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Education and Director, ASPESS, AUUP and Dr. Manorama Khanna.
