“Celebration of Life” –Solo Exhibition by Jyoti Nagpal inaugurated by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President - Amity Group

Solo Exhibition of Oil Paintings titled “Celebration of Life” by renowned Artist, Ms. Jyoti Nagpal – Professor(Hony.), Amity School of Fine Arts and Adviser, Amity Art Foundation inaugurated at Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi and will remain on till September 17, 2013.

The Artist has displayed over 100 beautiful paintings in the Exhibition depicting vivid hues of nature- “Sunset on the Lake”, “Lotus Pond”, “Waterways”, “Sunrise”, “Summer Lush”, “Spring Spendour”, “Fall Foliage”, “Rain Forest”, “The Waterfall”, “Spring”, “Daisies”,“Poppies and Roses”, “Mustard Fields”, “Tall Grass”, “Monsoon Clouds” to name a few. The artist has beautifully painted simple objects of nature and everyday moments on the canvass. Her works are an attempt to present the joy of the living environment and through her works, she tries to share the joy of nature and spread its fragrance amongst the viewers.

Inspired by the nineteenth and twentieth century impressionists, Jyoti chose the medium of oil painting as an art form and mastered the difficult techniques of “wet on wet” to express her fascination with nature. In this endeavor, Jyoti has brilliantly broken away from the conventional rules and restrictions of traditional oil painting while,at the same time, remaining faithful to nature.

Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group and Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity International Schools inaugurated the Exhibition.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group said that art and culture transcend borders and unite the world; they act as Universal language. An artist speaks through his works. Referring to Ms. Jyoti Nagpal as the “Artist of Light” and applauding the heart touching works of the artist, Dr. Chauhan said that Jyoti infuses her work with brilliance so that the canvass seems to glow from within. Each painting looks different under varying intensity of light, providing visual treat to the spectator.

Sharing her views about her works, Ms. Jyoti Nagpal remarked, “Nature acts as a source of inspiration to me. I have a deep fascination for dense foliage and its changing colors in different seasons, which, are symbolic of the eternal cycle of life. The joyous tenderness of new life turns into strong and lushness of summer, gradually matures into rich colors of autumn and acquire graceful softening into the greyness of winter, having lived life to the full.” The Artist dedicated her present Exhibition to “Nature and the Girl Child” both of which are the sources of life on the planet and at the same time, their existence is threatened.

Addressing the gathering, Dr.(Mrs.) Amita Chauhan-Chairperson, Amity International Schools citied that an artist develops love for nature and its bounty because of the surrounding or place where he/she has been brought up. Jyoti Nagpal’s works reflect the lively, vibrant yet serene beauty of Kashmir, where she has been brought up.
