Amity School of Physical Education & Sports Sciences organises interactive session with Sports Persons

Amity School of Physical Education & Sports Sciences organised orientation program for students from August 04 - 06, 2010.

On first day of the program hawan ceremony was organised which was followed by panel discussion by sports industry expert. Mr. R.K. Sharma, RMI Fitness Equipment, Mr. Shiv Kumar, Shiv Naresh Sports, Mr. Atul Khanna, Former Fastest Indian Athlete.

On the second day Mr. Amit Khanna, fastest sprinter in India and Mr. Kiran Pal Rana, famous volley ball player interacted with the students.

During the occasion Mr. Amit Khanna said that physical fitness is utmost important for any individual. If you can spend 30 minutes in front of mirror to dress and grooming but can not spare 15 minutes for physical excercise than you can not succeed in life because you can do anything if your body is fit. Mr. Khanna said that most of the youngsters choose sports as profession to acquire some job in government sector or to seek admission in college under sports quota. This tendancy is very wrong as it lacks honesty towards your profession.

Mr. Kiran Pal Rana, famous volley ball player said that honesty, dedication and hardwork are the the mantras to succeed in any field and sports is also included. In sports you are winner till the time you are not lost and defeat gives you another chance to take part and succeed. Mr. Rana said that injury is part of sports so one should not be afraid to compete fully, the most important thing is physically and mentally fitness. You have to be 100% mentally fit in any sports. Mr. Rana said that the difference between Sachin Tendulkar and Domestic Class cricket player is mental fitness and attitude to come forward. Mr. Rana said that despite of the fact that Hockey is the national game of India it is not popular than cricket. Due to recent achievements of Saina Nehwal in Badminton and Sania Mirza in Tennis that people of India is watching these games otherwise people are crazy towards cricket.

Prof.(Dr.) Kalpana Sharma, Director, Amity School of Physical Education & Sports Sciences, faculty and senior officials of Amity University were present during the occasion.
