Student of Amity Institute of Biotechnology wins Young Scientist Award during 1st IFIP International Conference of Bioinformatics

Ms. Swati Kaushik, Ph.D. student of Amity Institute of Biotechnology wins Young Scientist Award for her poster entitled “Synthesis, Docking and Cytotoxic activity studies on 2-vinyl chromones during 1st IFIP International Conference of Bioinformatics held at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat from March 25 – 28, 2010. A silver medal was awarded to Ms. Swati Kaushik at the valedictory function of the conference. Ms Kaushik is pusuing her Ph.D under the guidance of Dr Seema Bhatnagar at Amity Institute of Biotechnology.

The thrust areas at the conference were theoretical, mathematical and applied bioinformatics, health related strategies and drug development. More than 300 delegates from different countries of the world such as USA, Germany Austria, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia & Bangkok alongwith delegates from premier Institutions in India such as IIT’s , JNU, Allahabad University participated in the conference. 228 papers were presented in the technical sessions and 50 posters were presented in the poster session. Discussions and deliberations held during the conference will help us immensely in our future plan of work.
