While dwelling on the relevance of the theme Swamiji said, “man is becoming self centered. The major crisis we witness today is the consequence of the disconnect between man and his surroundings. Today we are running behind materialistic things, money and other comforts but in this mad rush we have left behind the base of our sustenance that is our values which have the potential to leads us to real comfort, satisfaction and happiness”.

He also said that “we are repeatedly facing this crisis and the solutions we have zeroed in for them are not helping us to overcome this crisis. The reason behind this is that even we are not aware what exactly this crisis is? Knowing crisis means the understanding of the way and proportion the crisis is affecting us. The irony behind this disability is that we never set a goal and a concept for our lives. The goal of our life should be the freedom from the senses. We should not think that we are just a body with a mind but much superior than that.”

While delivering the key note, Prof. Kapil Kapoor, Former Professor, JNU, said, “contemporary crisis is the consequence of environmental imbalance, social imbalance and ethical collapse. We have a man centered thinking due to which we ignore other living bodies who have the equal rights to exist as man have. There is huge diversification among people, religion, states and even countries. Today separateness is the reality, there is no integration and intimacy left in the relationships. The greatest loss to man from this crisis is the loss of relationships which is ruining our happiness.”

Among other dignitaries present were Madhulika Jha, Director, AIEBC, Prof. Bhu Dev Sharma, Former Professor Clark University, Atlanta, and Dr. Shashiprabha Kumar, Special center for Sanskrit Studies, JNU
