Enthusiasm, Excitement prevail during the Player Development Program at Amity International School, Pushp Vihar in association with Manchester United Soccer School

It is a pleasant sight to see hundred of students grasp the skills of playing football after the school hours in the Amity School sports ground, Pushp Vihar. For the first time in Delhi, Manchester United Soccer School in association with Amity is organizing a five day “Player Development Program” from April 10-14, 2013 at Amity International School, Pushp Vihar, New Delhi for students of Delhi / NCR in the age group of 6-15 years (6-9 years, 10-14 years and 15 years above).

 

Mr. Chris O’ Brien, Mr. Mick Benet and coaches from Manchester United Soccer Schools are conducting the Player Development Program for 135 students in 8 batches. Students in the age group of 6-9 years, 10-14 years and 15+ will be rigorously trained and taught the nuances of playing football the United Way.

Two batches are being simultaneously held in time slots of 3 pm-4:15 pm, 4:30 – 5:45 pm, 6:00- 7:15 pm and 7:30 to 8:45 pm.

 

Mr. Chris O’ Brien - Manchester United Soccer Schools Head Coach; Mr. Mick Benet and Mr. Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor – Amity University and President – Amity United Football Club kick started the Player Development Program on April 10, 2013 at Amity School Grounds.

 

Beaming with joy and excitement, Kunal – a young participant said that football is his passion and it is his dream come true to be trained by the coaches of Manchester United. On asking whether he will pursue football as his professional career, he said that he will definitely like to keep playing football and would aim to be a member of Indian football team.

 

Another participant Saumya said that it is a rare opportunity to get football training by the best coaches of the world in a proper training camp in Delhi and would look forward to more of such camps.

 

Ms. Meenakshi Kapoor, mother of one of the participant said that his son is so passionate about football that he watches all the international matches on television all through the night and when they heard of this camp, he was so delighted that he had informed all his neighbors and relatives about the camp.

 

Another parent, Mr. Rakesh Kumar, said that it is a great endeavour of Amity to organize football training camp. The coaches are so professional and trained, that my child was playing like a pro after the first session only.

 

Expressing his happiness that Amity and Manchester United Soccer Schools are collaborating, Mr. Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor – Amity University and President – Amity United Football Club said that Football is followed by billions of fans worldwide and it is a craze amongst youngsters across the globe. It is the widest played sport in the world and teaches discipline, leadership and team work. Given the mass appeal of football and a large youth population, it is a unique endeavor by Amity to tap and nurture young soccer talent. Mr Chauhan wished that with such initiatives, genuine talent should come out of India and apprised the gathering that Amity is already supporting two football clubs, Amity United Football Club and Indian National Football Club as well as running a number of rural football development centers and scouting camps.

 

Mr. Chauhan said that after a few sessions, he could see the parents and participants who were walking with pride that they are being coached by coaches from Manchester United and above all the participants will get lapel pin of Manchester United on their jerseys after the training.

 

Mr. Chris O’ Brien - Manchester United Soccer School (MUSS) Head Coach said that with 730 million Manchester United followers, India is one of our fastest growing fan base and have no doubt with equally talented individuals in this country too. The programme is one of the largest of its kind in India and it is a great opportunity for us to work with these talented players in order to coach them on how to play the Manchester United way.” The unique format of Player Development Program will ensure that every player gets an equal opportunity to train his playing & skills acumen, overseen by renowned and officially certified coaches in batches. Talking about MUSS, the coach said that in Manchester United Soccer School, Manchester United environment is created; players are encouraged to play the United way and learn to coach the United way. Mr. Chris shared his dream to train and empower each and every interested player in India from the age group of 6-18 years to play football.

 

While address the parents and participants during the Training Program, Mr. Chris O’ Brien lauded the facilities provided by Amity School in conducting this camp and remarked that the support extended by Amity  is fantastic and very encouraging for children as well.

 

During the Nutrition workshop, Mr. Chris O’ Brien briefed the participants and parents about the importance to nutritional food for the players. In this session Mr. Brien talked about hydration and re-hydration technique in which every player is required to replenish its energy source by drinking water and juices after every 15 minutes. He also stressed on the need of taking nutritional diet in at regular intervals and to avoid junk foods. Mr. Brien said that players are not born only by practicing in field but are shaped by having overall body development.

As part of the CSR initiative of this camp on April 13, 2013, special training camp has been organized for the under privilege children of My Angels Academy Clubhouse at Vikaspuri, Delhi where coaches from Manchester United Summer Schools will provide coaching to children and teach them the tricks of being the good footballer.
